  1. Markup on Custom Neon?

What's your guys take on this? Don't want to scare the bastid away, but want to make a few bucks at least. Subbed out the work since I don't trust myself with a blowtorch. 30% is about what I'm thinking.
  2. Bad Logo Help

when using japanese maples, its about context... draw a full tree, swept in the japanese tradition, and include HD leaves on it. put the text to the right of the right-swept tree, and go from there. It'll look good. Just convince the customer it's the better way to go.
  3. Gentle but Firm - Please?

Thanks for the samples, and a design I'll be sure to use! /fixed just messin'
  4. Architectural Drawing Software

Whaddya guys use? Looking for one that does side/top/front elevations of the sign itself, as well as scale representations of buildings w/signage. Have done most of ours in illustrator/flexi in the past, but might be looking for something more suited for that.

  8. Looking for Freelance Wrap Installer - Baltimore

Hi Signs 101 - We're looking for an experienced wrap installer in the MD area. Have some jobs lined up, and our current freelance installer is quoting far, far above the market average (trust me, it's ridiculous). Feel free to contact us on here, not sure if I can post a telephone number or...
  9. Third Party Highway Signage

Thanks for the tips - we're meeting with him tomorrow on this - it's for a hotel, and the signage we think he's talking about (from our brief interview) are "hospitality signs" for a divided highway, like: Bob's Diner Next Right --------> Thing is, if thats what they are, it's a public...
  10. Third Party Highway Signage

So we had a customer that wants to meet up and discuss highway signage for a hotel - we know that there are probably regulated materials we have to use, as well as permitting, but are unsure of how to best go about it. Does anyone have any experience with placing these, and if so, can you give...
  11. A present to you

these look phantaztik (see what i did there)! Very interested to take a look at your blog as well... links?
  12. Let's Discuss Pickles...

used to go down to the Lucky's coawrner stuw here in Balmer, and buy 1 gallon jar of pickles... not the wussy 5-6 inch long ones you get in vlastic jar, real pickles... 10" and with a 2" diameter. Things were huge, and delicious. Gonna go wash my mouth out with soap now... but damn those...
  13. All wrapped up

do you actually live by the tenets on your website? or is that just to show how cheap you can be... been wondering for months if it's a joke or a brilliant business model.
  14. Newbie Question: Avoiding a 'ridge' when layering vinyl

i commend the noob on his handling of the "welcome to signs 101, now eat sh*t from the old heads" greeting. well done, sir.
  15. Would you do this?

    6" platforms.
  16. vette stripes

from time to time we get jobs from a Fiat dealership to install after-market stripes and graphics... oddly enough, I think that the "5" is the exact same one we get to install. Same crook to it, same font in circle. Those stripes don't happen to be from 3M, do they?
  17. Subbing Out

lol screw it, we'll do it ourselves. Paying myself and the helper $38.75/hr when it's all said and done. I counter-offerred $570, to match what he said would be a worst case scenario in terms of time... He dropped to $750, which now has a home in Outlook's trashcan.
  18. Subbing Out

We've recently had a run of good luck, and came across a freelance wrap installer with a good amount of experience. Although I've done quality installs on my share of partials and lettering, we prefer to use him on larger jobs so that I have more time to do sales, which is my main focus. Long...
  19. feelings on this?

not a big fan of the font, seems a little vertically stretched. Also, some of the lines and fonts are too heavy imo... might be good for a general builder, but an architect/engineer takes pride on using minimal materials to make a sturdy structure. Try to use that, and they might appreciate it...
  20. So what do you think of this Sign A Rama attempt?

Came up with this... I think it'll still be better than 90% of designs run up there http://www.signarama.com/tool/dt/product/view/design/140154-7489
