  1. the ugly-est sign i have ever made!!!

And then when customer's friends ask who made that monstrosity, they can tell them "you did". We have a customer with an awning with vinyl letters on vinyl valence -wanted that removed and new letters put up. Were told that the old letters would leave ghosting, but still insisted. We went down...

  3. Fonts not to use?

Couple things I've done over the years: Resize the font for lowercase/uppercase letters in the same word to the same height- can help with legibility, and if you have a butt ugly letter in a singular font, can hide that bast*rd. Small scale editing of letters - useful for making a mediocre...
  4. How can I remove this? Weathered Alumalite Wrap

    :bushmill: I think this applies.
  5. Cross Training

Just curious as to what you guys think about in-house cross training of employees - Does your sales staff do general design work? Does your GA coldcall stores? I know a lot of you guys are owner operators, and this should only apply to people you hired on to be 'sales' or 'graphics'... to be...
  6. Esoteric Layout ?!

I'd keep with the same "theme" of the image across both sets of windows, first of all.... the white BG looks like oysters to me. and might look like oysters to people looking at it from street level as well... The red BG looks like "if AOL was born in the 60's"... not a fan of either of...

  10. Slim light boxes. interior.

3M makes a "LED light mat", allows for as low as 2.5" deep iirc... LEDs are placed in a grid on a rubber mat, flexible, really cool idea, not for cheapskates ;)
  11. How does this happen (I didn't do this sign)...

ironically, orlando, FL has more overcast days than seattle, WA. The more you knoooow. My guess is that because the letters are black, the area over them is retaining heat more than the white surrounding. If it's on Alumicore, the metal may be heating up as well under the black. I'd guess...
  12. Canvas Awnings

Hey - anyone have any recommendations on preperation and materials to be used on awnings? We're doing a job where a customer wants their logo + some letters, and were wondering what vinyl to use - we hear that 3M would likely be the best with that. Also - are there any quick tips of the...

  14. Custom Die Cut Coro?

10x of each, 1st one is an oval, 30" tall x 38" wide, sides of oval to those dimensions. 2nd one is a custom cut bumblebee, with shape of sign TBD by vector (when its done), approx same size. I understand it's low quantities - part of the problem.

  17. Custom Die Cut Coro?

Anyone know a company that'll do custom cuts? Specifically, we're looking for the fastest turn around time possible - price takes a backseat to speed in this case. Signs'll be 6mil or 8mil, 30" x 36", complex shape. Vector would be provided by us.

need 10' 3" total length, 10 foot banner plus hems. If you could take a look we'd appreciate it. 54" would definately work.
  19. Need a helping hand - banner material

So we had a (neglegent) customer who left his double sided banner out in 105 degree weather a few weeks ago, and since we completed the job for a broker, who is giving us constant business, we agreed to replace it free of charge to make them, and us, look better. I know, I know, "free of...
