  1. Why I will never buy another HP printer again. L26500 nightmare

We have had a 25500 in production for about 14 months and had problems twice which were both taken care of very quickly, 1-2 days. We bought at the end of 2011, had looked at Grimco, but there were a lot of problems noted here about them at the time and many others praising Advantage. As a...
  2. L25500 vs L26500

The supplier was talking about vinyl, he was not indicating it wasn't a good machine, just that black from the L26 scratches more easily than with the L25. There was a 3rd party ink supplier who has latex ink for L25 and 26 who claims their ink is more scratch resistant than HP's, priced about...
  3. L25500 vs L26500

Went to the SGIA show last week, don't remember who I was talking with that indicated the ink for the L26000 has been changed from the L25500 and the new black scratches easily. The subject came up when I mentioned that we had installed a 102 ft x 14ft wall just before I left that was almost all...
  4. Fabric suggestions

What did you find is the best way to load this and get it to go straight? I have a 60" roll of this and it's a pain to get it loaded correctly. I keep getting the "skew error". __________________ Tape the lead edge of the cloth to a 24-36" length of adhesive back vinyl or thin plastic that...
  5. Fabric suggestions

I like Neschen's VariTex Deco Frame 250. It does not have any coating required for solvent printing so it is soft and relatively wrinkle resistant, prints well in our HP L25500.
  6. Printing lightbox panels

Most 2 & 3 mil vinyls are translucent but many have an opaque adhesive. We have use Avery MPI 2920 and General Formulations 210 which have a clear adhesive and printed on our Falcon II and HP 25500. We have installed these materials on a number of light boxes over the past 3-4 years. We...
  7. What weight banner to use

Had a discussion with UltraFlex a few monyhs back and they suggested for such an application, the weight of the material is not as important as the thread count, as I recall they suggested a count of 1000. You would do well to contact UltraFlex directly, not sure most distributors have the...
  8. Mimaki Latex

The ads from Mimaki indicate the ink is cured at 60 deg. C and it operates on 115 V rather than 200-250 deg F and 220V that HP requires. The 175 sq ft per hr is likely mfg wishful thinking, the rep at ISA did indicate it runs a lot slower when printing white, didn't indicate how much slower. I...
  9. ISA Show

I will be going and gone to the past 4 or 5. The seminars are generaly well presented. If you are in the market for new equipment you can discuss with factory people rather than local distributors and might run into people who are current users for first hand feed back. The new products you read...
  10. Grimco Tampa

Grimco must have different policiesin different locations, the location in Maryland refused to take an order for less than $75. I needed something 2-3 years ago that they had in stock but was only about $50 and they refused to accept the order, I wanted to pick up, but they refused to accept the...
  11. 2 sided static cling

We have done double faced static cling a few times, usually small quantities. The 1st time we reverse printed on clear static cling then std. print on adhesive back vinyl that had clear adhesive, an then laminated the 2 together. The problem was if installed on a door facing outside, the white...
  12. HP L25500 Carriage Belt problems

We installed our machine just after Thanksgiving and after about 6 weeks the the shaft on the belt pully sheared off and the belt dropped. Our Advantage sales rep told us he had seen that happen 2-3 other times and that it is usually preceeded by a grinding noise just before it brakes. The shaft...
  13. Need Installation Disk for 62" Outdoor Falcon

We installed our Falcon about 7 years ago, I don't remember an installation disk being requred. We run it out of Flexi.
  14. Interior Wall vinyl recommendations

We've used Avery wall material also for about 18 months, it's the only one I have seen that can print with a full bleed. Did 2 walls 4ft x 120ft a year ago and it still looks good. Have done a lot of temporary Mall work recently and it works great. Easy to install without laminate or transfer...
  15. where do you get your retractable banner stands from?

    www.imaxdisplay.com 201-768-2168 We used about 100 of their 33" x 77" last year.
  16. where do you get your retractable banner stands from?

Try I-Max, a lot less expexsive than Orbus, not as robust but a decent stand. They ship using my Fedex gnd account and as a result, freight on a case of 6 from NJ to MD is a little under $12, which is less than the freight for a single stand from WS.
  17. Acrylic and Cardstock material will not lay flat. Need help!

Card stock, like foamboard, will warp if vinyl is applied to one side. The paper on the non vinyl side will absorb moisture from the air and cause that side to expand a little causing a curl rather quickly in high humidity.
  18. metallic vinyl..

Don't believe anybody make anything other than 8-9 year metalic. Fellers sells vinyl by the yard if you need less than 5 yds. If you need 5yds or more you might as well just take a 10 yd roll.
  19. Cutting a roll of vinyl

My first printer was a 48" Mutoh about 7 or 8 years ago. We used a 10" chop saw which didn't go all the way thru the roll, so after cutting as deep as we could, rotated the roll to cut the balance. Just make sure to bounce the cut end on the floor a few time to knock the chips out of the core...
  20. Mutoh Falcon - What is this?

Looks like the colors are striped at the rollers, the space between the rollers is a different color than the area under the rollers. We had that problem with a 48" falcon, but we replaced that machine 6-7 years ago so my memory isn't what it once was. As I remember we had lowered the heat a...
