  1. 20' Trailer wrap

What would you of charged for this design & wrap install? Customer comes in wanting a wrap for their trailer. Wanted the illusion of their car inside (like uhaul does with their roll up door). Everything was custom designed; the character, the flames, the font, etc. 3M IJ180CV3 with 3M 8900...
  2. 2" Green 3M Masking Tape 401+

Our installers really like using this stuff but it's $18/roll. What alternatives/options do you guys use for your wrap installers that works just as good but much cheaper? Or am I just being too cheap with not wanting to spend $18/roll of tape?
  3. What would you use?

Customer said this sign was made 2 years ago by another company and it looks like this. Wants it redone and were thinking of using 4x10 1/2" Luster Board but were not sure if we should print on it directly with our HP Latex R2000 or on IJ180CV3 with 8518 lam and either a) die cut the logo and...
  4. HP Latex 800 take-up reel telescoping

yes, the take up reel has some sort of auto adjusting feature but I'm not confident it works the way it's supposed to. I'll check on the roll's "squishiness" :P
  5. HP Latex 800 take-up reel telescoping

The 100 yard roll is a concern of mine. The rolls are quite heavy and we do our best to make sure they don't telescope while loading. I'd like to think they are pretty straight on the feed roll. They are taping the media onto the take up reel with 1 piece in the center. They have done it at...
  6. HP Latex 800 take-up reel telescoping

Were still experiencing telescoping issues. The 1st 1 panel looks great but then it starts to skew to the point if I leave it alone, the print will eventually start to bleed off the side of the paper and the media gets damaged on the sides of the take up reel. I have loaded/unloaded the media...
  7. Seeking your expert knowledge

I have a customer that is looking for a 40" x 72" black banner with their 3 color logo (red, grey, lt grey) printed on it on both sides. The customer would like to use the black fabric material that construction company's use for privacy that hang on fences to keep prying eyes out of the...
  8. Basic mechanics of the HP Latex 800

We are printing panels for a wrap. My production team is sending the entire job from ONYX to the printer at one time, therefore the printer prints 12-15 panels at a time. We are noticing some droplets of ink in random spots on the prints. My personal educated guess is it is because they sent...
  9. Standard/common practice question

We do a lot of commercial truck wraps and sometimes phone numbers & names are designed into the wrap. Every once in a while, we need to change the phone number or name on the vehicle and a new panel is warranted due to the nature of the design. How often do you guys print names, phone numbers...
  10. HP Latex 800 take-up reel telescoping

We unloaded and reloaded the material. It was a brand new 100 yard roll so it was quite heavy. We've got a few 100 yard rolls that our production girls have been avoiding for that very reason but I've instructed them to burn them up and from now on we stick to 50yard rolls. The material was...
  11. HP Latex 800 take-up reel telescoping

HP Latex 800, 3 weeks old. We are printing a 58" wide panel on 60" IJ180CV3. Panels are 120" tall (for a box truck). 1st 2 panels printed fine, 3rd panel started to skew. We are seeing some telescoping on the take-up reel which caused the print to skew and now we toasted this panel. Has anyone...
  12. Cost of ink per sqft? HP Latex 800

Valid question... So our graphics department is its own company. It is owned by a much larger Fortune 500 company. To make a long story short, poor previous management lead to the larger company going through a restructure and eliminate/replace most everyone in the department. I was brought in...

  18. Cost of ink per sqft? HP Latex 800

We have (2) HP Latex 800 printers. I know what my cost is to purchase all the Inks at 3L per box, but I don't know how much sqft coverage (on average coverage) we get. I'm trying to figure out how much I should charge for ink per sq/ft for an average coverage for vehicle wraps at 12 pass...

  20. Looking for some install advice

Recently became manager of a print shop that does a large amount of vehicle wraps and I know very little about wraps (25+yrs management and business experience), although I'm learning a lot very fast. We have a few installers with various experience levels, none of them are 3M or Avery...
