  1. Am I crazy or is 4OVER trying to get "over" on me

Doesn't look like it to me. Here's a mockup of a blank coroplast sheet. Even though his artwork is rotated, the flutes are going up and down on the smaller side of the sign top to bottom, so therefore vertical.
  2. Am I crazy or is 4OVER trying to get "over" on me

If I submitted artwork similar to the above, I would expect the fluting to match the dimensions entered, not be some variable based on my artwork, even if I'm in the wrong. In such a case a courtesy call to double check would be nice, but if I submitted it wrong and they printed what I...
  3. Buying used SP540V, no discs or dongle?

No dongle is needed as others have stated, if it's a V model, then you will need Versaworks. I'm unsure if Roland charges for it if the original cd is not around. There are other RIPs that can be used, but I'd give Roland a call and see if you can obtain Versaworks from them. As another...
  4. Jagged everything

I think I've heard of static electricity causing some of these issues on the data ports before, another thing to try and rule out on the list!
  5. heatpress: Clam vs. Swing

I have two clamshells. If a swing is in your budget and you have the space, it'll be a bit better for laying garments down without accidentally burning your hand multiple times. If you're primarily going with small solid objects for dye sublimation, I'd say just go with a clam.
  6. SGIA - Who went?

Sizewise I don't really recall how it compared to the last SGIA show I attended about two years ago, seemed about the same I guess. I primarily went to printer shop, thinking I'd be picking up a newer bigger Roland. Proveer talked me into a HP Latex package though, and I hope I'll be fine...
  7. Has anyone been paid to curse on a handmade sign?

I have printed such t-shirts for friends only, and I always tell them, "if anyone asks where you got this shirt, it's from the Internet".
  8. Another attempt

Looks nice, I really like the way the logo looks on the banner with the coloring reversed.
  9. Hand drawn & lettered

When I was your age, we used to walk to school uphill, both ways, through snow! We didn't have any of these fancy dancy "bicycles", we had horses and cattle, and if a horse looked at me the wrong way, I shot it. Once I shot the horse of a philanthropist, I was challenged to a duel, so I shot...
  10. Air purifiers for printing environments?

Sorry, seemed a decent point to segway into a fart joke, instead it looks like I segway'ed off of a cliff :banghead:
  11. Air purifiers for printing environments?

And likewise, just because you didn't hear it, doesn't mean it isn't deadly. Oh wait, we're talking inks?
  12. What do you wear to work?

Generally t-shirt and jeans. I wish I could get away with wearing shorts more, but I think I look a bit too ridiculous in em, even though I prefer them. If I get really cold (shop is 40 degrees or lower) I'll toss on a sweatshirt in the winter. My t-shirts and sweatshirts generally have my...
  13. SGIA Expo

Welp, think I'm going afterall, my business partner wants me to dump the money this year for a writeoff!
  14. SGIA Expo

Still on the fence, but thinking I'll probably pass and go to ISS in January. I've really been wanting to lay some money down on a 54" printer, but don't know if I'll be financially ready come the 13th!
  15. Need help with slab serif font ID

I'd say you're on the right track, Bookman Old Style bolded looks quite correct to me.
  16. My driver has disappeared

You might run into issues with the serial port, but it's definitely worth a shot. Serial and parallel device programming is much more brutal and low level than USB, so you won't really get a "device detected" or anything like that when you plug it in. Instead, you will basically have to...
  17. My driver has disappeared

Did you do any kind of service on the plotter and possibly leave a ribbon cable unplugged/plugged in wrong on the inside? Kind of sounding like the USB chip isn't communicating properly, hence the Unknown Device. Some other common troubleshooting ideas before you rip the machine apart: If...
  18. Customer artwork 110 GB!

Expect it more with technology, in 15 years time, it'll be "it's only 110 gig, I asked for a high res graphic file! what'd they take it with, my grandpa's 'blackberry'?".
  19. Image trasfer to wood

I've seen some samples at shows and some in the wild versions of Dye Sub on woods (imagine they were made with sprays). They looked good, some of the ones I've seen in the wild have left a bit of an opaqueness on the wood where the coating was applied. Never done em myself to know how tricky...
  20. Sport font?

+1 for Collegiate. If the outlining isn't exactly correct for heavy, you can easily create your own utilizing Collegiate Inside and doing two contours.
