  1. L310 Suddently printing poorly

Is there an error code # associated with the 'assertion error'? Nozzle performance is absolutely key with any and all inkjet printers, large, grand, or small format. One thing that is nice about the HP Latex machines is that nozzle performance is regularly reassessed automatically by the...
  2. Shopping for new canvas printer to replace / supplement existing HPZ6100 - advice?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, here are photos of the hard copy books that HP has created for Canvas prints and the wall coverings market opportunities. They are terrific tools for market development activities to help drive sales of these types of products. I probably don't need to add...
  3. L310 Suddently printing poorly

Are the two prints coming off of the same roll of media, or different rolls? Often times with PVC-based banner media, rolls of PVC media can eventually develop plasticizer contamination which will cause the HP Latex ink to print very poorly, due to plasticizer interference with ink adhesion.
  4. Shopping for new canvas printer to replace / supplement existing HPZ6100 - advice?

I would not expect there to be significant differences in gamut potential between the Z6100 and Latex 360 for canvas print applications. While the Z6100 has 8 inks, it is still truly a CMYK printer, as is the case with the HP Latex machines. Any time you are getting into proofing situations...
  5. Trying To Make Oranges Brighter

The most important point is that any digital printer (particularly those using CMYK inks) always has a defined gamut that represents the achievable colors for the print condition that is being used. The print condition includes the media, media profile, ink restrictions, and other factors that...
  6. HP 360 - Add profile from interweb

With most classes of media products, I would agree with this. The ability to easily and quickly generate custom media profiles using the on-board measurement device (X-Rite i1 spectro) is a true game changer for implementing custom color-managed workflows for this printer category. There are...
  7. HP 360 - Add profile from interweb

The HP Latex 300 Series printers are quite different from the previous models in terms of how they communicate and work with the RIP software. The Latex 300 units are referred to as Contone printers, whereas the L2 machines are Halftone devices. With the Latex 300 printers, HP has invented a...
  8. Unidirectional Problems?

It is a bit more involved than simply re-applying new oil to the carriage rails. Make sure that you are using the proper type of oil, as not all oils are recommended. Here is a link to a video on the subject for your printer model (HP Latex L25500): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2Eezc6gwwc...
  9. CJV300 Who has one?

I agree with you about the supposed benefits from adding light black to these machines. There are no real benefits from adding the lk ink for those who implement accurate, color-managed workflows.
  10. i1 pro - 3rd party program to read colors

You can use Onyx Postershop or ProductionHouse to create new spot colors, or i1Profiler, or ColorPort, or the MeasureTool app from ProfileMaker 5.
  11. Hp310 won't print

I'd like to help, but I have not worked with recent versions of the SAi RIP. As this is a 300-series machine, it should have been sold and set-up on site by a reseller of HP. Are they able to assist (it is really the reseller's responsibility to get the unit set-up and operational on the...
  12. First impressions of my L25500

The HP Media Solutions Locator is a terrific resource for obtaining information and downloading profiles for HP Latex machines. Here is the link: https://ssl.www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/2013/ga/MediaLocator/home.html Among the things that I appreciate most about the HP Latex printers are the...
  13. Contour cut question....

The name of the color is the linkage point, and not the color itself. The color needs to be a Spot Color, and have the name CutContour. Flexi typically creates a gray color, other color palates use a 100 percent magenta color, and either is fine, as the linkage is not based on the color itself...
  14. why do the "i"'s and the "l"'s look wrong in pdf files

    Display resolution limitation.
  15. HP5500 Printing To Small

OK, so if you send a small job through the EWS and it prints are the correct size, that points to the RIP as the source of the problem. If it prints at the same (wrong) size, that points to a setting on the printer itself.
  16. HP5500 Printing To Small

How are you driving the printer? With the Designjet 5500, you have several options to direct production jobs to the printer, these include using: a) RIP software b) O/S driver (PC or Mac) c) Embedded Web Server Have you tried a different method to see what happens? You should be able to...
  17. Jagged edges

Red blade holder = 1.5mm blade Blue blade holder = .9mm blade Graphtec dealers should carry consumables like blades and holders. Alternatively, you can source consumables through the Graphtec America web store: http://graphtecamericastore.com/ Paul
  18. Jagged edges

Putting a .9mm knife into the .15 blade holder would indeed be a big problem, and I would expect it to seriously affect the cut quality in a negative way. The proper blade holder for the 45 degree .9mm offset blade has a blue end, and the .15mm holder has a red end.
  19. Versaworks File Error

You do not mention what the file format of the offending file(s), but I am guessing that they are likely some type of Postscript-based file, such as EPS or PDF. These files are more prone to causing RIP errors and output anomalies than simple raster-based formats like TIF or JPG. If the file...
  20. ISA or SGIA Expo? Why??

SGIA is next week in Atlanta, while ISA is a spring show. They are the two largest EXPOs in the USA market each year, so if you get an opportunity, you really should go to at least one of them. I have a slight preference for SGIA, as it tends to have a somewhat more diverse range of...
