  1. Custom Magnets

The material and time to make the jig in that video is x3 more expensive than just printing on vinyl and applying it to the mag. Am I missing something?
  2. Logo Critique

You are absolutely correct. And you are basically proving my point. I used words like "could" and "needing to know his clients" just like you are using the term "perhaps" I never intended to imply that he is "successful because of his logo" he has succeeded in staying open for 20 years and will...
  3. Logo Critique

Wrong, dead wrong in fact. It says I have succeeded for 20 years and you will continue to receive similar service. Without knowing more of his business and it's client base, completely changing the name and look of business could be suicide. If I was a customer of his for many years and pulled...
  4. Recording customer payments, How do you keep track?

Wow dude you have def got a ton of advice off of this place since I have been here. If you give any more bread out for services it should be to Signs101 as a paid member. You have learned more in about 2 weeks than most do in 2 years. Quickbooks and Signs 101 should be your next money spent...
  5. Flexi Error

I use 8.5v1 with enough ram to compensate for exporting a simple pdf correctly. I run into this with big files often as well. It seems to be more of a "to many vector" problem than big jpg. type files. Quite often I have to shut down flexi and restart my pc to resolve this. If I have the...
  6. Dr. Alfred Muthu

I stopped getting these when I turned off my fax number although I have received a similar disguized scam involving hundreds of banners
  7. CAD files - straight segments

I would love to know the answer. It is less of a problem with printing now, but I used to either save it as a JPG then vector it and hope for the best. Or I have had success outlining and bringing it back from the outline. Some of these files can be made up of tens of thousands of lines and...
  8. Logo Critique

this is what I mean for a slow progression if you are worried about the switch. I had about 2 seconds to do this IT IS JUST A EXAMPLE EDIT: the last example did not export correctly in the orange (supposed to be white text) but I think you get the idea
  9. Logo Critique

why not slowly change the logo? Shrink the "G" and make it "graphics" Keep the same colors maybe add a little flair. Then in a year change the font and maybe the color a little bit or not. Major brands constantly tweak their logo's I only drink Killians Irish Red beer. Every 2-3 years they...
  10. Know your customers going in.....................

sounds like you should of traded the entire amount up front at least you would have a smile on your face right now
  11. Quantity Discounting

I do a lot of wholesale print/cut and it is just easier to keep the same rate. I have a minimum that I go by because on my setup it takes a lot of material to do a few print/cut labels. And I also have a minimum price for how small they are. I'm not going to make $40 on a job that takes a hour...
  12. JV33 ES3 Inks = Kindergarten watercolors, making the switch.

we have a valuejet with eco inks and we always place liners between coro signs. Even after a week if they sit in a hot car they will stick.
  13. Mutoh Woes

+1 thats what I do Word of warning, If you do this don't leave it alone when it is close to the end. When the Mutoh runs out of media it wont know and it will keep printing on the metal strip and you will have a huge mess on your hands. edit: use a piece of transfer tape. It is EZ to remove and...
  14. Mutoh ValuJet Leaving Purple streaks

It's hard to tell from my phone what's going on. If you think it's something dragging across it, then most likely it is. Check the entire bottom of the carriage. Print the same thing with your print head raised. If its worse when it's down then it's got to be a foreign object brushing against...
  15. Mutoh ValuJet Leaving Purple streaks

I have never had luck with those cartridges helping with any problem. I'll say it again, a pic of your problem couldn't hurt in getting a answer
  16. Mutoh ValuJet Leaving Purple streaks

A pic would help It could be threads hanging off of the print head free up the head and move it over to the right where you can see light under it. If you see threads hanging down then there is your answer. Banner material is especially bad for causing this problem.
  17. Newbie Question: Avoiding a 'ridge' when layering vinyl

first cab in the world to have graphics that are not crooked!!!
  18. Reverse Cutting

been a few years since I used Signlab but if I remember correctly you can select grab a corner (or any node for that matter) hold shift and ctrl and go the opposite way shift keeps it square ctrl keeps it in check sizewise
