  1. Helping a school with a VS-540i that won't print.

If its been sitting for a year then head soaking is very unlikely to get the heads back working fully. The solvent evaporates and leaves the pigment, which blocks the nozzles in the head. Really it is going to need new heads, probably a new pump, dampers, wiper and captop. When you do a poweful...
  2. Xc540 error

Thats a shame. Was the motor you fitted an OEM one or one of the chinese copies? They copies don't always work as well as they should! It could be to do with the pinch sensor to the right of the head. Maybe the printer isn't registering the head is there properly on startup. Other than that...
  3. Xc540 error

That is normal for most aftermarket ones as they are normally supplied longer than needed. You just cut it to the proper length and make a hole in the other end yourself for the fixing screw. The end with the hole is where the spring goes on the left hand side of the printer. The markings should...
  4. US Cutter Plotters

I haven't used one myself but I know someone who uses one pretty regularly for their internal signs they make, and it seems to work pretty well. They probably won't last that long with heavy use or specialist materials, but should be ok as an emergency backup. One thing I would say is make sure...
  5. Roland XC-540 no heads firing

It could be the main board, servo board or print carriage board. Unless you know how to test and diagnose these then your only real option is to replace them one at a time and see if it then works
  6. Need help! Roland VS-640

OK if it had been left standing not in use for a while the ink has probably dried in the ink hoses and dampers. Did you leave it for a long time not being used before fitting the new head? Those are the first things you need to check to make sure ink is actually getting through to the heads...
  7. Roland XC-540 no heads firing

Run a powerful clean and see if you are getting ink coming through the heads. If there is, then it does sound like a faulty board. This is always a risk buying a printer that hasn't been used for a long time. You have to wonder why they weren't using it! Were the old heads printing at all or...
  8. Need help! Roland VS-640

Did you run the cleaning to see if you are getting ink coming through the heads?
  9. Roland SG-540 Printer setup

It won't connect completely wirelessly via wi-fi, as balstestrat says, you will need an additional ethernet connection to plug the printer into
  10. Need help! Roland VS-640

Did you leave it at least 15 mins after unplugging? if not there can be some voltage left that can blow the fuse. If the fuse is ok, did you replace the head cables or use the old ones? I always replace them when I do a head change., and also did you fit new dampers? Also, do a powerful clean...
  11. Need help! Roland VS-640

When you changed the heads, did you make sure the printer was completely powered off ( and left for at least 15 minutes unplugged from the mains ) before you removed the head cables? If not you have most likely blown the main board fuse, so that would be the first thing to check.
  12. VS640 cyan bleeding into magenta, new head?

I would say the head looks ok. As I mentioned before I don't think it's a head issue, it is the signal going to the head from the board. I would be looking to replace the servo board as this is the one that most commonly causes problems
  13. Roland sp 540v print an cut off

There isn't really a sequence, you just need to to adjust the feed and scan values until you are getting the cut going exactly where it should be. Note that sometimes this will work by just using the numbers from the test print, but sometimes you need to manually tweak this as well. What I...
  14. Roland Sp-300v making thumping noise

OK my guess would be it is problem with the scan motor then, it could be seizing so I would look at replacing that first and see if that solves the problem
  15. Need Help VG-540 Grainy/Less detailed Quality Sticker Prints

unilateral or uni direction gives a better quality print than bi-directional on most printers. The only difference is with bilateral the printer prints in both directions when the head moves, so on the left and right passes, with uni it only prints on one pass and not on the return. The printers...
  16. My Roland SP300i doesn't print black and cyan after replacing new print head

I don't think the Indonesian and Malaysian ones actually send anything out once they have got hold of your money :D
  17. Need Help VG-540 Grainy/Less detailed Quality Sticker Prints

Hi Art, the next step would be to calibrate the heads and make sure they are correct. The steps for doing this are all in the service manual. You also need to run a test print from in service mode. This will check the small nozzles as well as the standard test print only tests the larger ones
  18. My Roland SP300i doesn't print black and cyan after replacing new print head

Thats good, at least you have ruled out all the other parts so can get sort it out now with the person you bought the head from :)
  19. My Roland SP300i doesn't print black and cyan after replacing new print head

If the old head still prints then at least you know everything else is working properly, so the only issue can be the new head. Even new ones can be faulty sometimes ( digiprint seem to get a lot of faulty ones, and they are a nightmare to deal with for returns ! ). It is also possible a head...
