  1. Question Dust management & Lamination

+1 fit roll to roll. We do fairly decent sized runs so usually leave between 1-2’ at the end of a roll so we can have it lying around with no dust getting on the prints before laminating. we do UV print now so being able to laminate right away does help a bunch.
  2. Disappointing when good customer doesn't pay...

True! Get them named and shamed! Everyone else pays a bit quicker too when they don’t want their name on your window haha
  3. Disappointing when good customer doesn't pay...

Go to his place of work, rack up a decent bill then when they ask you to pay just ignore them or say you’ll get it in a month or two. See how they like it! Also a huge fan of Gino’s approach but that’ll likely be the last time you get them as a customer lol
  4. Two Sided Vinyl Printing

The Colorado 1640/50 should be able to do double sided banners. Don’t think the firmware is set up for the 1640 yet but the 1650 should come with that from the off. I’m at a print show next week and was gonna check it out. the banners on those things are pretty much scratch proof and very...
  5. Discussion Solvent and latex?

A quick search should get you a million threads on this already. it all comes down to your needs and the tech support nearby. No point picking a printer that’s 1k cheaper if it costs an extra 2k just to get a guy out to look at it. there’s also UV nowadays. Again, depends what you need them...
  6. Looking for someone who can print and ship

Always bugs me when people send jobs in already nested. “I assumed you print on “x” sized sheet so I’ve done this trivial bit of work for you, that’s wrong”.. Makes my life a LOT easier to just get one file and do the stepping myself.
  7. Redundancy

We always buy two pc’s, set one up, mirror it then copy it onto the spare. Then save another backup on an external drive. As helpful as it is, everything is online nowadays so I could probably get myself Up and running in about half an hour on a new pc. Just a pain remembering all the...
  8. What printer should I buy? Latex or UV?

The 16h EFI is a production level machine, the UCVJ is closer to entry level. Not completely familiar with the EFI costs but I’d guess you could easily get 3-5 of the UCJV for the price of that. They’re around 20k in the uk. The UJV-55 320 is probably closer to a comparison and that’s around...
  9. What printer should I buy? Latex or UV?

We went UV and I must say being able to laminate right away is great! There’s always going to be that customer that wants their sign yesterday so naturally it’s great not needing to worry about outgassing. We’re running an oce Colorado so 430 sq/ft an hour on high quality isn’t bad either...
  10. Anyone have the Roll Up add on?

We’re looking at adding one. Hope those pics help. Got them in a just in case folder lol
  11. Font help, Just Saying

As per the vector doctor, I think a lot of people try these sites before coming here. Whatthefont, identifont, find my font etc. I can recall trying about 6 of these sites with no joy once then tiki managed it in about a minute.
  12. Retractable Banner 33.46in x 81.10in Textured vinyl

Looks like it translates into metric at the standard size in Europe/everywhere that’s not America lol. Approx 800mm wide by 2000mm high. As far as the material goes, just tell them the one you stock. As you said they’ve probably just googled it. Your initial post sortve implies you don’t...
  13. Orange printed as Red on corriboard. Anyone know why and can it be salvaged?

Yes, if those straight white lines were not on your artwork, they shouldn’t be on the print. Simple as that.
  14. Name everything wrong with this sign

At least the white stroke around water works is nice and consistent
  15. Discussion Can you believe................................

I have very similar conversations with girlfriend all the time. Me; I’ll sort dinner tomorrow Her; no that’s fine I’ll sort it *tomorrow* Me; what’s for dinner? Her; You said you were sorting dinner.. Sounds a lot like all your paperwork etc is signed and in order so you should be fine. Good...
  16. Orange printed as Red on corriboard. Anyone know why and can it be salvaged?

Surely nobody would send that job out. Even if the colours are off the banding is crazy. What does the print PDF look like? How much exactly did she pay? Honestly you shouldn’t be paying any more than about £15 an A1 for 4. And that’s still pretty steep.
  17. Shirt re-order pricing

I’d treat it as a new order. That way they can’t come back every couple of weeks and add a few extra. If they ask about it, just say there’s the same amount of setup for 15 shirts as you’d need for 100. (I.e load a roll of HTV and wander off - or however you’re printing them). So naturally it’s...
  18. Decals curling on edges

If the spray laminate helped, I’d maybe check the tension on your laminator. If it’s too high, all your prints will curl. That and use a compatible laminate. That’s if the above doesn’t work, anyway. It’s likely an outgassing issue.
  19. What Direction Do You Weed Your Cut Vinyl?

I like to accidentally remove bits I'm not meant to
