As far as profiles go, a great profile will never be a waste of shop time or money.

I’d just tell them the already printed option isn’t viable for the price they want to pay/how much of a nightmare it would be and quote them for supply and install of banners. Keeps your partner happy and potentially gets you the work for a fraction of the effort.

Just an update on this, we had one installed and are pretty happy with it so far. There’s still a few bugs/teething problems that they’re saying will be fixed with firmware updates but it’s went pretty good so far; happy to answer any questions!

Agree with the others but it depends on how busy you plan on getting, You’re never going to complain about getting your work done 80% faster. Always gonna help for those rush jobs! Might be cheaper to get the faster one now than to upgrade/buy another one later. (I should be a salesman!)

We do a fairly sizeable chunk of work for schools in our area. It’s extremely worrying that the people in charge of our children’s futures can’t seem to plan 5 days in advance. They’re also usually the worst offenders for sending in A4 jpg artworks and then wondering why that can’t be made into...

We do 5 working days for design on all standard stuff, then 5 working days to produce approved artwork. Naturally, 15 minutes after approval most customers ask if they’re done yet ;)

I know they use a lot less ink, but how often do you have to change them? I.e how much ink does one 50m full roll (full coverage) use generally?

Are you sure the media isn’t jamming first, causing the head to detach? I can’t see why those parts being detached would cause a media jam so it’s likely it’s crashing into the media then detaching. But yeah, that needs to be addressed. If you damage the print head it won’t be a cheap fix lol...

If it’s any help. We can run a 54” by 50m roll on a profile that still looks great and takes about 6.5 hours a roll.

What are the actual physical settings on the printer? I think in setup you can fiddle around with the print quality. How big are the passes? Have you made sure “fast print” is enabled in the print settings on the pc? And bi-directional? Could be a whole host of things
