never a problem, boxes are always shipped in their original package......they may be using
bulk rolls and cutting them at the length you are ordering.... even still, buy the right
size box, charge me a few dollars more for the packaging and send them to me.......
as i stated before we have had no problems using a kick shear.... i can shear .063
alum with out a problem. i cut a lot of dibond with it...... no sharp edges.....
did you use 1 sheet of foam or did you sandwich a piece of mdo between
2 pieces of foam for added strength..... sign looks great..... i thought signfoam
made 8" balls... they have a base on them that can be cut.....
we have a shear that is at least 25 years old... never have a problem cutting dibond,
or the like.... never a sharp edge.... what it does not like to do, shave a little of the
edge... it leaves the under side edge, which has to be cleaned up....
you can use NAPTHA..... any paint store should have it.... it will not eat into the lexan..
while you are using it, add a little motor oil to it..... slows down the evaporation....
it will take a little while, but it does work well..... to remove the oily residue after
you...
you should spray black grip-flex first, this will make the background opaque.... you can
then spray grip-flex maroon over the black..... during the day it will show the color, at
night with the sign lit, it will be black......
+1 clear coat...... try to use a dark colored background color....
if they have a lot of iron in their water it will stain the surface
and look pretty bad in a short time.....
they are a Signcomp hinge for their extruded boxes... they worked well when they were new... but as they got older the screws were a pain to get out...
still make them? not sure... stopped using the darn things years ago.... might still have
some if you need them.....
What made you want to be a signmaker?
finished 5 years of college in boston, just looking for part time summer work...
Did you start off with hand painted or vinyl?
hand painted, hand carving, silk sceening and when you were finished with the job...
go put it up...
How long...
3m has a great product...their high end reflectives can't be beat....
their real problem is with customer service.. or the lack there of...... try calling
with a question, thats when the fun really begins......
well ain't that strange...30 days ago i lost my favorite $100.00 bill here on cape cod....
it was a horrific wind gust out of the east... took it right out of my hand......
or was that a horrific wind gust out of the west... east, west why should that
matter..... 30 days...
i have always used a small square file, aprox.1/4" wide, has worked great for years...
you can even nick the back edge of the trim.... makes for a little less resistance
when bending your angle......never liked the nicker, it always made to big a cut...
i will lighten this up a bit.... in ref. to the sears defib. hope it says craftsman on it..
it will come with a lifetime warranty!!!! now we just have to find a way to change
the code on the garage door opener.... take care of yourself, OP.....
wishing you well...
