This is incorrect and misleading information. You can correct these issues by properly calibrating your machine in conjunction with developing your own in-house profiles, either by yourself or by a trained professional.

Rather than using a drop shadow or Gaussian blur, trying using the gradient mesh tool. If you want a nice drop shadow, use Photoshop.
