That sounds more like an ink related problem, since it happend after changing the ink cartridge.
You should also change the dampers on black channels, that might help.
You are right...it's not advisable to grant Administrator privileges to software from untrusted source....however, in this case, we are talking about software downloaded from trusted source, like Mimaki...and it's not permanent...it applies only to the software in question.

1. Try to run the installation as Administrator
2. If the above didn't fix the problem, try the installation in Compatibility Mode

Well, first we had a problem with one of the carriage cable that connects the main board with the head board (It broke somewhere in the middle of the cable, causing intermitent electrical contact).
Second time was an improper electrical contact in a connector.
Also check if all the pinch roller assemblies have their springs at place (2 springs / pinch roller assembly). Some of them pop out, probably when loading the media.
