I would give the back side the same treatment as the face side. I'm not sure about Ultraboard, but I've seen other foam boards warp from uneven tensions on the two faces - especially when out in the sun.

Is the maintenance station/cap top in good shape? When was it last replaced? What inks are you using? What printer is this in?

In my experience it will work most times, but when it doesn't you're on your own. Most of the time, when there are problems, it relates to networking with the printers. I don't think there's been a problem with visual appearance of the program, unless the screen resolution isn't high enough...

2 points here - solvent inks would be less susceptible to an oil based issue (plasticizer) than a water based ink (latex) and I've seen this cause problems on solvent printers as well, however with was on some 2 year old banner material. It appears that HP has put it's research power into this...

Is the carriage in the high or low position. If it is calibrated for one and you're printing in the other, it will really throw things off.

Well, I have a 365, not a 500 series. Parts are the same, but the firmware is different. Mine does not do that on the first pass, nor any others that I observed. I also do not have that marking on the cleaning cloth. Not the same machine, but similar. I hope this helps.
