  1. Short rant...

:goodpost: We recently needed a cartoon illustrated and we found someone really good. We gave him the specs for the job and he quote $500. For the project it was too much so I asked him to do it for $200 which he agreed. No haggling. He said he prices it higher because corporate customers...
  2. Booth in a car show

so a 4" x 24" decal is $7.68? even with calendared vinyl and cheap mask you are close to costs. Do you know how much your actual material costs are? How long does it take to design, cut, weed, and prepare a decal?
  3. Booth in a car show

What do you charge for the decals you cut, weed, and prepare at the show?
  4. Interpretation of Wrap Proof Notes

finished car photo was posted on the other thread http://signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1094975#15
  5. Need to Outsource Auto Wrap Printing and Installation

We picked up the completed wrap late last week. I'm fairly happy with it but there were a few issues with the printing and a few corners were not wrapped properly. We will wrap another one in a few weeks for the same client's business partner.
  6. Check out this desk!

wicked cool man, thanks for sharing!
  7. 1st post, 1st Logo

I agree about the Mastering Layout book, I purchased it years ago and was lost. The Dan Antonelli books are good as are any design books with example layouts. The more examples of good design you see the better your designs will be.
  8. First real sign

    I like it a lot!
  9. Boxing Gym Logo

    nice
  10. First wrap!

What she said. I think the spacing of the bullet list is because someone hit the distribute button.
  11. Graphtec CE5000 - Contour Cutting Accuracy

Are you using 3 or 4 point alignment targets? Does it find all of the alignment targets? I've never had it be off once it finds the targets. Usually the problem is the targets being too close to a pinch roller or too close to the front or end of the material. Any of those will cause it to...
  12. Interpretation of Wrap Proof Notes

Thanks! That sounds about right to me too.
  13. Interpretation of Wrap Proof Notes

btw "Webster" is not the name of the client or us so I ASSuming it is the name they gave to the machine (printer) they used for the proof and final wrap.
  14. Interpretation of Wrap Proof Notes

I emailed them and the reply was "Those are internal notes for production." - duh.
  15. Interpretation of Wrap Proof Notes

We recently finished a car wrap and found someone to print and install the wrap for the client. Today we received the proof and all three pieces were printed on 3M material and the wrap itself is supposed to be on 3M media and laminate. However on the proof it reads "Avery 2012" with what...
  16. Sign I did today

How big is the sign? I'm ignorant on these types of signs and their fabrication. Could you have painted the entire thing white before updating it or would the old sign still show through?
  17. No Name Heat Press'

Geo Knight stands behind what they sell. I've had a DK20-Auto for about 8 years and it still works every time and was built like a tank. Their are other good brands as well. Buy a well known brand and be happy. An extra $300 amortized over 2 years will be nothing to worry about.
  18. Thoughts on these layouts

I like the TOP one because the logo and website url are on the same line and is easy to notice and remember. I do think a single larger photo would be better. The ones in the top design are so small that it is very hard to take them in at a glance. Try leaving the layout of text/logo on the...
  19. Need advice for rolled up sign

If they took the time to properly roll the banner it will not wrinkle. Give them an old roll core, longer than the banner, and show them how to roll it slowly and with purpose. Soldiers "ranger roll" their shirts without wrinkles, as do I.
  20. Graphtec CE5000-60

Not trying to be a smart as$ but have you read the manual for the CE5000-60? If not... You really do need to read it. There is lots of useful information.
