  1. You trippin?

I was thinking about that actually. Before, not being able to pass a drug test was enough to *weed* out a lot of terrible potential candidates, and saved you the time from having to read over applications written in crayon and covered in mysterious stains. Now with a lot of applications being...
  2. PS to Flexi

This seems like something that would have been more easily designed in flexi in the first place, unless all you have is print. I know in full flexisign you can import a photoshop PSD with transparency and then use the contour cut tool to generate a cut line. It won't be 100% precise, and you...
  3. Onyx resizing files

I know Gamaprint (cut down onyx rip for epson printers) doesn't do this, it just says 'waiting for media size' or something. We are upgrading to Thrive along with an HP560 this week, so good to know this is something to look out for.
  4. Wrapping a 50ft tall concrete silo. Anyone ever done something similar? Pricing and time?

I'd want to start by putting my hands on the prints. I'm having a hard time believing anyone would think it a good idea to print that much self adhesive vinyl for what looks like an impossible job. Maybe... just maybe... the client saw the words 'vinyl banner wrap' and shortened it to 'vinyl...
  5. Getting our 560 this week. Any insider tips or tricks?

Our (not so) trusty Epson gave up the ghost last week, but we had been researching printers for a while before hand, so making the decision to go with a 560 wasn't too difficult. The printer should show up in the next day or two, with our installer coming out at the end of the week. We've gone...
  6. 3M 8915 - Ultra Matte - need supplier or alternative

All my normal suppliers, Fellers, Grimco, nGlantz, are out of stock of the 3M 8915, and have 2-3 week lead time on getting more. I've got a couple jobs that require the ultra matte (museum walls and other displays) We are located in Raleigh, NC. Looking for a supplier that either has the 8915...
  7. Banner Stand Material BLOWOUT!!

Any thoughts on how it compares to the Pop-Up 10mil that Fellers sells? We use that for our cheap stands currently.
  8. X-Rite i1Studio - Any feedback?

I don't have quite that same screen, but I was able to create a preset with All ICC Off and load that, trying a print now. RIP-Que and Media Manager are the only parts of Onyx that load for me. Probably because its the software included with the printer rather than a full version.
  9. X-Rite i1Studio - Any feedback?

Just to at least make an attempt at this... can you point me to where the 'All Profiles Off' setting might be in Onyx Color-Rip 11.12? It is probably some huge flashing button right in front of my face, but I'm not seeing it.
  10. X-Rite i1Studio - Any feedback?

Hey ColorCrest, I was actually able to get one of the i1Studios. My problem is now that Onyx seems to have a canned list of devices it will recognize, and the studio isn't one of them. Maybe one of the many listed is compatible, but I've tried some with no success so far. X-Rite customer support...
  11. Flexi Exporting / Missing Details

Flexi used to do this to me all the time. It would drop out layers when sending to versaworks for printing. Had to restart the computer to fix it any time it happened. It's no fun being 3 panels in to a box truck wrap and realizing the outline around some text is missing. For some reason, black...
  12. Need Help micro sprint wrap

I worked at a shop where a custom race car builder had his warehouse directly behind us. It was impressive watching him turn metal tubing and flat aluminum into a car. We would make him numbers and some stripes for his own car, but any time anything got wrapped, another guy in town would do it...
  13. X-Rite i1Studio - Any feedback?

I was afraid of that. I wouldn't call myself knowledgeable on either this specific printer or onyx in general. They both seem pretty locked down (at least this version of onyx that came with the printer), and our printer in particular has almost zero for support and profile availability, so...
  14. X-Rite i1Studio - Any feedback?

I've been tasked with finding a spectrophotometer so that we can make an attempt to resolve ongoing color consistency issues with our Epson S50675, but without spending a ton of money. A regular i1Publish Pro 2 is around $2800, vs 'only' $500 for the i1Studio. The feature sets of both seem...
  15. S50675 - Pantone Colors not matching. Cyan especially

Thanks ColorCrest. Sadly I have to work with the tools provided to me (AKA, not much) - I've requested a spectrophotometer more than once, but can't seem to get any traction on that front, so I'm dealing with either canned profiles, or ones that were set up when the machine was first installed...
  16. S50675 - Pantone Colors not matching. Cyan especially

Just touching base on this issue. Still not resolved. Rep from Grimco reached out to 3M and Epson and they had no solution. We switched to an Avery wrap media for one job and the colors were perfect, but the installers didn't like it as much (too low tack). Just had an issue yesterday with a...
  17. S50675 - Pantone Colors not matching. Cyan especially

I understand that different profiles for different medias are required. I normally would not print a pop-up banner with the 3M profile. It was only done to see if it was an issue with the profile, or an issue with the media. (software vs physical issue) The original wrapped column printed about...
  18. S50675 - Pantone Colors not matching. Cyan especially

Yes. The blue background in the photos IS the column with the original print on it. I will reattach it here. As you can see, it is over-saturated slightly, and that is printed at 95% density of 298C, so with the 298C printed at 100% (the 2 swatches on the left) being so dramatically different...
  19. S50675 - Pantone Colors not matching. Cyan especially

I do not know with 100% certainty that it is the machine, and not the material. If you look at previous posts, printing the same file, with the same profile, on a different material, the saturation of the Cyan either matches the expected Pantone color, or in the case of the Oracal media, appears...
  20. S50675 - Pantone Colors not matching. Cyan especially

Here are the latest prints showing 300C looking darn near perfect, then it just goes downhill.
