  1. Mutoh Valuejet 1604

It seems likely that you are comparing more than 'just' Mutoh versus Roland, but different RIPs, ink configurations, field service providers, and much more in the way of variables. Unless things have changed, Mutoh relies on their dealer to provide field service, with GEI available as well...
  2. Yellow streaking along prints xc540

Is this problem only occurring while you are printing the swatches for profile creation, or is it doing this for all (production) printing?
  3. VersaWorks Ink Consumption

    CMYK 220cc cart = $69 (list price) ~.31 cents/ cc
  4. SP 540 will not complete contour cut

Very simple solution. In Versaworks, go to: Edit Menu > Queue A/B Settings > File Format tab > EPS Margin > Set at 0.05in then click OK. This adds a small size to the EPS file that allows the contour cut to complete.
  5. Ink Pooling

That field is referencing the ICC profile itself. The profile chart needs to be printed from the media in Versaworks, but is read in to a 3rd-party ICC profiling package (ie ProfileMaker, i1Match, or Profiler) where the ICC is built. Once it has been saved it is tied back with the media in...
  6. Ink Pooling

You should be able to copy the Roland profile and rename it, allowing you to edit. Be aware that doing things like changing ink limits will largely invalidate the foundation that the profile was originally built on. A better approach is to build your own from scratch.
  7. Ink Pooling

You are correct the case of the Roland Color System. this is because that system performs a direct conversion from spot into CMYK. This, in effect is bypassing an ICC-based workflow. However, if your custom spot color converts into LAB-based color, then you are using an ICC-based color...
  8. Ink Pooling

I think that you may have missed my point. The same system that Roland uses for it's Roland Color System (Spot Color Library) can be used for ANY spot colors, including Pantone spot colors. All that is necessary for this is to create the library and then name and measure the colors directly of...
  9. Ink Pooling

Media profiles (output profiles) by themselves are not built with the idea of matching spot colors, such as Pantone colors. That is why many RIPs (including Versaworks) provide a mechanism for spot color replacement. In Versaworks, this found under the Edit Menu > Spot Color Settings. The idea...
  10. Ink Pooling

That looks really odd. What media product are you using to produce this? It appears more like the results you would tend to get when printing on a media who'se chemistry is incompatible with the ink set being used. Any additional info you can provide would be helpful (RIP, media product...
  11. Roland sc-540 overspray/ streaking

What specific media product are you printing on in the images? Are the streaks always in the direction of carriage travel (scan direction)?
  12. Profiles for Blizzard & Flexi

Spyder Pro (from DataColor) is not to my knowledge supported in the Flexi RIP software (Production Manager) and as such, cannot be used for generating Flexi output profiles. The Spyder3Print SR product is used for driver-based workflows only, and I know of no RIP that supports it.
  13. Lancer G1 Eco solvent printer

Uniform is a UK-based company that re-brands Roland, Mutoh, and other manufacturers' equipment. The Lancer model is a Mutoh ValueJet 48 inch. You'd do better to go to the (I believe exclusive) USA distributor for that product, which is SignWarehouse.com The HP Latex is another option, assuming...
  14. HUGE tip for those using the Roland Color System

In the upper-right corner of the palette's window is an arrow. Click this arrow to open a flyout of options. You are looking for one called Persistent.
  15. VS-540 Color Profiles

Roland VS series printers began shipping in mid-2010, and the VS-540 around the 4th quarter of the year. Canned profiles (the ones you download from media vendor web sites) generally take around 6-12 months to arrive, as there generally needs to be a sizable installed base for the printer, and...
  16. Flexi - jobs that have been deleted keep printing!!!

If you aborted the job, there may still be data in the printer's buffers. Clear out the data buffer on the printer, as well as the Production Manager queue, and you should be good to go.
  17. Leaving printer on

For the Mutoh Falcon Outdoor/ Prismjet: Answer = No.
  18. looking for scroll bracket

The Sign Bracket Store will do custom fabrication if they don't have something that will work in their catalog.
  19. versa works color chart question

You must change your Queue A Settings (under the Edit Menu) before bringing in the job.
