  1. JV3-160s No color in prints

If cleanings do not change the test draws (no ink in any of the colors), I would suspect that the problem is electrical in nature. That would point to the source issue being printed circuit boards, fuses, or data cable related. Bob
  2. Printing Static Cling

The metal edge clips will tens to 'stick' to many static cling materials, causing media advance and feed problems. Simplest solution is to not use the clips on that media (slide them off of the media). Be sure to ensure that the edges are not curling up, as that can cause head strikes. Bob
  3. Graphtec FC8000-75

I'm still waiting for the compelling advantage to using the AI plug-in in conjunction with the Versaworks RIP to make print/ cut happen. With the VP-540 it should be a slam dunk to do solely on the Roland device using 1 file, printed and cut via Versaworks, for either print/ cut and print/...
  4. Graphtec FC8000-75

You would need to print from Production Manager, and cut from it as well. Your other option would be to print and cut from Versworks to the VP-540 device. Also, I vaguely recall some other workflow involving a Graphtec Adobe Illustrator plug-in that might be able to do this, but I have no...
  5. Graphtec FC8000-75

First question: why cut on the Graphtec when the Roland will do it? Second question: What RIP are you using? If you're using Versaworks, is cannot be done from the RIP. Other RIPs, such as Onyx or Wasatch will have that functionality (print and cut on different brands of equipment). Bob
  6. Service Pack 1 for 8.6v2

Make sure that the application package was what was downloaded. Sometimes the PHP file downloads in place of the app. It should be about 6.7 MB in size. Bob
  7. Mutoh streaks in green print. Help!

Forgive my ignorance, but I thought that the metal tape was needed on the Falcon Outdoor printers due to the small platen plates under the printheads allowed heat to escape between the plates. The tape evens out these 'hot spots'. Why would tape be needed on the ValueJets, where there is one...
  8. Versaworks & Shadows from Illy

Rasterizing the file in Photoshop would be the 'traditional' solution to this problem. It is an imperfect fix (more of a work-around), as it will change spot colors to process color. If you are using VersaWorks (only the current version 3.1.3), there is a brand-new color management Preset...
  9. Opinions needed between Epson 11880 and Mutoh 1614

You may be confused between the Epson 11880, which is an aqueous printer, and the Epson GS6000, which runs eco-solvent ink. The inkset used in the GS6000 is not the same inkset as used in Mutoh printers. It is an 8-color inkset, whereas the Mutoh has 4 to 6-colors, depending on the machine. Bob
  10. prismjet extra color question

Way too many variables to troubleshoot in a forum...ok let's start with the basics: 1) Which Mutoh Falcon/ Prismjet printer (38/46/62 inch) do you have? 2) What RIP are you using (product and version)? 3) What media are you printing onto (mfg / model)? Bob
  11. icc profile settings

User Defined Media Profiles, including RML files pulled down from media manufacturer web sites can be edited for carriage speed. Roland's profiles cannot be edited. Here is what you need to do to change the carriage speed in Vewsaworks 3.x: Media Menu > Media Explorer. In the resulting window...
  12. VP540 Internal Error

This is sort of an un-defined error. some of the questions to be asked to troubleshoot it would include: Does it occur when the machine performs any specific operation? When did the error start to show up? Is it after doing something to the machine (cleaning)? Does it occur when printing...
  13. Outrageous!!!

The industry standard for extended warranties on plotters has long been around 10 percent of the unit's list price / year. Typically they do include parts & labor for that price. Interestingly, Roland is introdcing today at ISA significant decreases in extended warranty pricing, as low as...
  14. Why is my production manager timing out..

Assuming that you are accessing PM from Flexi, here is what to do: Locate the Preferences dialog. Depending on your workspace settings, this may be under the Tools or Edit Menu, or elsewhere. In the Preferences dialog, click on the Tools Tab at the top. Scroll down the vertical list, to...
  15. Mutoh VJ 1204 print hesitation

I would suspect network-related issues, based on the fact that the pausing started after the job began, and stopped near the end. Bob
  16. Blade Offset

If you are using Roland 45 degree blade the offset should be .250mm Bob
  17. Firmware for SP-300V

6.9 Available from Roland's web site: http://support.rolanddga.com/_layouts/rolandreports/_productsupportsearch.aspx Bob
  18. Rockhopper 38 driver for flexi

It would be called a Falcon Outdoor Jr in FlexiSIGN-Pro, assuming that you have a complete, dongled version of Flexi. Install the device into Production Manager. Bob
  19. What would cause this??

What RIP are you running? (I've seen something sort of similar from Onyx.) Bob
  20. Dumping ink

Both of those would indicate a bad profile/ media configuration (no ink limiting). I would obtain a new Flexi profile (PTF file) for the ink and media and RIP that are being used in your shop, and install it into Production Manager (File Menu > Import Preset). THe PTF may be available from the...
