  1. Can you tell what model this is?

That looks to be an Graphtec FC2100 series. This machine was produced in the early 1990s, and the 48 inch unit was priced at around $16,000 (!). Terrific machine, and assuming it works, it would still be supported in current sign making software. Big danger would be if it needed electronics...
  2. Is Vista my problem?

Enabling Tangent Emulation for very small letters (or thick media) can be very effective. This function is available on the FC series machines and newer CE series machines. Bob
  3. Printer problems

USB devices can be a tricky lot. It sounds like you have attempted various cable-related configurations, without any success. I would de-install the drivers for the printer, and then pull down the latest driver set for the Epson printer. Here is the link...
  4. Signs 101 Business Model

I hesitate to offer this, given the current fractured climate of this discussion, but John Dvorak of PC Magazine recently authored a column on the fragility of online communities such as this. Here is the link: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2288738,00.asp Bob
  5. BIG Problem with Versacamm-BULK INK

I would carefully attempt to peel back the top layer of foam from cap-top #1 (use tweasers). As I recall, the foam is actually two layers deep, so you want to take off the top layer only. Unclamp the hoses after doing this, and you should be good to go until you replace the cap tops. Bob
  6. BIG Problem with Versacamm-BULK INK

I would not expect that the pump would be the problem in the scenario that you describe. My initial thought would be that the cap-top for Head #1 (the one that runs Black and Cyan) has probably swelled, and is coming in contact with the nozzle plate on that head. This can cause a wicking...
  7. Ribbons of color

The place to begin is to print out and then assess the Nozzle Test Print. On the Falcon Outdoor, this is done by pressing two keys on the keypad at the same time (can't recall which ones, as it's been a year or so since I've been hands-on on that machine). Look in your user manual or on-line...
  8. Will ColorRip open RML file?

RML (Roland Media Library) files are only available for use with VersaWorks. Wasatch's version of this is referred to as an 'Imaging Configuration (IC)'. You'll have to locate and download a Wasatch-specific IC media setup to use that RIP. Bob
  9. Need eye one help, or color management assistance

Thanks for the expired ebay threads. I was looking for resellers of new equipment. Thanks anyway. Bob
  10. Need eye one help, or color management assistance

EyeOne Proof retails for $1,495. Where can it br purchased for less then $1,200 (new)? Bob
  11. Versaworks users, why does the RIP program...

You can set the EPS margin to a very small value (I recommend 0.015"). Bob
  12. Versaworks users, why does the RIP program...

I believe it is the EPS margin value which is adding the space between copies. I have output numerous raster TIF images with 0 margin and they always but each other, with absolutely no space between the copies. The value set in the EPS Margin field has no effect on raster files like TIF or...
  13. Aqueous vs. UV

I am guessing that the printer you have is an HP Designjet 5000/ 5500. Those printers supports two different inksets, one called Dye-based ink, and the other is referred to as UV ink, which is pigment-based. Both of these inksets are Aqueous inksets, and both require specifically coated...
  14. Optix profile help

Output profiles cannot be the cause of what you are describing (solid colors shifting to lighter and then back again. I would look at the media (inconsistent surface coatings?) or the printer itself (nozzle problems) to be more likely suspects. Bob
  15. Does Flexi pro 8.1 come with dongle keys?

The terms 'hardware key' and 'dongle' refer to the same device. All versions of Flexi through 8.1 require these devices (software cracks notwithstanding). Flexi 8.5 and higher uses software activation in place of the dongle/ key (as standard equipment). Bob
  16. JV3-130 Pricing?

$17,995 USD @ list price Bob
  17. Will not print colors

All three colors CMY come from one head on the Falcon JR. This sounds like a possible electrical problem, such as a fuse, rather than a plumbing issue. Bob
  18. Falcon Outdoor JR dumping ink...

I would suggest that the reason that the ink is running into the waste bucket is because of swolen sponges in the two maintenance/ capping stations of the printer. When the sponges swell, and come in physical contact with the parked printheads, this can cause ink to release into the capping...
  19. Have CorelDraw X3 and ValueJet 48"

The Valuejet printer requires a software RIP. CorelDRAW is not a RIP, and the RIP in Omega will not drive the Mutoh printer. There are many RIPs which will drive that machine, including Flexi-Pro, Onyx, and Wasatch. Bob
  20. Valuejet 64"

SignsRus: I would guess that your VJ64 is still under manufacturer's warranty (based on the machine's availablility). Have you called your selling reseller for assistance? They should be the first line of defense for this type of problem. Bob
