  1. Husband broke his back

I had something along those lines myself though not quite as bad; my C6 blew and I lost the use of my hands. You have a lot of time to think when you are in pain like that and none of the thoughts are good, but life goes on. I healed though it took months before everything was working and I'll...
  2. My beautiful sign ruined!!

Nice, I wouldnt have thought to put that much metal in, but it makes sense.
  3. Large Banner on Chainlink Fence

the issue isn't the grommets or the banner, though they will eventually fail over time. the main issue is the force on the posts. they will get ripped or bent like twigs with a large banner. remember a chain link fence is just a big mesh banner with large holes.
  4. For those of you who spend time on construction sites...

    Even works for Canadians too.
  5. What's the price market these days?

I think if someone came into my shop, put a gun to my head, I would probably do it for free. (special "please don't shoot me" pricing).
  6. Hello..from the great white north...

  7. I miss...

Heck, I miss Summer. It has been so cold up here in Canada, it hardly got warm the whole season. I am seeing trees starting to turn because the nights are cold. I want a re-do!
  8. Rip/print issue

sounds like you need to restart. Your computer has lost your printer on the network. have you given your printer a static IP so it doesnt get bumped?
  9. Anyone else see this?

and everyone told me "hand made signs are dead, get a printer"! I wonder if there is a franchise opportunity here? What would you do if one of these signs appeared in your nice suburb?
  10. Interesting Study Showing Avery outperforms the rest..

I don't doubt the veracity of the article, I did however notice the words "Press Release from Avery Dennison". If its true, maybe 3M will stop being so lazy about quality control.
  11. What vinyl to use for long-term outdoor sign (printed)

we have 180 as an option, but mostly use IJ35 with an oracal 210 lam. I have signage out there in full sun still looking good after 7 years using this combo. If you are mounting white background on white substrait, like an aluminum composite it is perfect, but if you are doing a heavy solid...
  12. Happy Birthday Canada!

Now I know you forgot to send a card, but today Canada Celebrates it's Birthday! Happy Canada Day! If you are Canadian and like me using today to get caught up on work, you have my sympathy. I hope you manage to get to a deck with a barbeque and some beer sometime today.
  13. The good reverend is now sending artwork.

...and they tell you they need the banners in butcrackville in Africa, but they had difficulties with UPS in the past, so here is the number for the shipping company they prefer... You call the company and they say to ship 50 Christ is the lord banners will cost $1500, you go back to the...
  14. Going crazy!! try to cut Cast laminate with either Cal or Cast printed vinyl.

try letting it sit overnight, the kinife cuts release tension in the vinyl and it pulls back a little. This pulling can also help the weeding.
  15. My first credit card charge back! Woo hoo!

In Law you just stole his sign. He could easily have you arrested for taking it back. Once you leave the property after an install the sign belongs to them. The debt is a civil action, the removal of the sign is criminal.
  16. any Canadian Companies know what is needed to ship signage down to the US of A?

You also have to have the NAFTA certificate. For that you need to register or use a Brokerage. Honestly, it sucks. we do a lot of cross border with UPS. My advice is use a professional shipper. Package WELL, have all the paperwork in order and cross your fingers. Customs is designed to protect...
  17. Intelicoat Inks for Roland SP540v

Is ink cost such a burden compared to your other costs? Most of the Roland issues I see relate to 3rd party inks. My VP540 used for hours every day is creeping up on 6 years old with the same heads and the OEM inks. is it worth the risk? Plus, are the 3rd party inks as good?
  18. 3M Media

I am seeing all kinds of issues with the Ij35 across rolls. not to mention the crap I'm finding in the rolls; dust and dead flies. A couple of years ago this would be pristine.
  19. Vinyl Sign - Heat Protection

I have seen a nice custom barbeque job done with laser cut stainless steel. With the company logo cut out.
  20. Wow talk about new directions

Moved out to the country myself two years ago. No regrets even though it limits my business. Happiness beats money any day (although money is good for food).
