Latex uses less ink than cheap quality solvent inks. Although Latex ink consumption is almost the same or slightly more than using premium ink like Mutoh UMS
This is the Service manual for 1624, they are almost identical. Hope it helps.

No more ink for Mimaki SWJ-320 in Egypt. I will not be able to order ink from abroad dew to current regulations. We have some types of inks in the market that will suitable for Ricoh printheads but there will still be problems with the ink chips. Does any one has a solution for the chips ?
I had the same issue before few years ago with the Cyan ink only over spraying, it turned out to be a bad batch of OEM UMS Cyan ink. I had to replace the printhead as the damage was permanent.
Seems like extremely dirty, properly clean capping station, wiper blade, printhead side plates without touching the head surface. Flush the capping station and make sure it flows perfectly. Run deep cleaning cycle, then most probably it will work perfectly.
1624 is a great printer, we use it to print on almost any type of media that accept Solvent or Eco Solvent inks. We have even used it to print on 1mm Forex board directly with acceptable results. Flags and textile works good as well but you have to select your media based on your ink.
