I would definitely go with treated. You do not want 5x10 V shape sign posts rotting and breaking. Tell them you recommend waiting 90 days before they paint it. Or they can choose to paint it immediately but higher chance of paint failure, warping, etc. Even if they want it painted immediately...
I've had 2 cyan heads go bad(banding just like this), using TR2 genuine ink, heads always stay very clean. First one went bad in 4 years, next one went bad in 2 years. Try a test print in service mode see what that looks like. Also, if you overprint 2X it can help reduce the banding.
You can do multiple lines of tape, just try to keep the overlaps thin as possible. Smooth wall trailers like this are easy to do. Just remove the screws where the decals are going. Use the hinge method for installing (masking tape down the center, peel and squeegee half of the decal at a time)...
