I use the Matthews Paint System for most things but for that much color I've begun using BenMoore "Command". It's pre-tinted black and is very easy to work with.
I second this. If this is to be an exterior sign, painting white PVC black is the better option. Black PVC will fade and warp (maybe not warp at 1", but 1/2" definitely did for me) and is more reactive to the elements especially heat.
I had failure like you've experienced as well and in their literature they suggest "Insl-X Stix" which is a urethane acrylic primer. I haven't had failure since I started using it.
I've used them in the past and have worked out well. I acquired them from the person I bought my printer from so I didn't realize how low cost they are or where to find them so thanks for posting this. I've also bought 45 degree blades from fellers and my local supplier as well.
I only allow companies to supply their own materials when it's something expensive and specialty that I don't want to purchase myself. If this person is trying to lessen their costs they can just buy their own laminator with what they're attempting to save. Force them to get their own laminator...
I used a DCS printer years ago and wasn't too content with it. I now have my own company and just purchased a Mutoh 661. So far I'm very happy with the easy of use and how it's cartridge fed for the inks. I'm just finishing up my first ADA job on it.
I gave up trying to quantify machine time for vinyl. Wether it's 1 minute or 10 minutes, I just run the file and walk away for the same amount of time to work on something else. Basically I don't run a plotter often enough to need to quantify it running. Also, if it's a job that has extreme...
I stopped printing static clings a few years ago. 3 main reasons were: 1) print speed was 4x slower for good quality, 2) quality of print was alright but never great and 3) the actual application for what they wanted was never to be reused or re-positioned so they didn't really need a cling...
Received the same burnt in logo from Grimco as well.Never reported it because luckily I was already doing full coverage decals. It was still annoying that the ghosting was there and keeps being distributed
As a 1-2 person shop I also under utilize SV but synced with QB online I've been able to do everything I need between the two. I use QB for all my merchant processing, simply because it auto posts everything for me. I tried only QB for a while but found it very annoying and difficult to properly...
I go as thin as an 1/8" single flute upcut, either Amana 51445-K or normal plastic bit. Definitely don't unmask the acrylic. I still cut in "climb" for longer bit life, but it's all personal preference.
I would suggest clear vinyl not laminate. Lamination isn't designed for inks, but yes it will accept them. Secondly I've preferred printed to vinyl instead of direct to acrylic. If there are any errors or changes you haven't wasted a piece of acrylic in the process. You didn't mention the size...
After reading everyone's comments I basically just conclude figure out a standard sq/ft price for your materials. I use Shopvox for my quoting/invoicing and production needs, but still have a general sqft price I give to customers for easier quick numbers (generally the sqft price is rounded...
Fully agree with this. I made the mistake of buying a 54" laminator then upgrading my printer to a XR640, which prints at 64". I basically can only maximize my printer when I run banner and cut vinyl. Def the wider laminator, especially for mounting purposes
