Bulk Ink Mutoh VJ1624

I have been looking to change my 1624 to a bulk ink system and found the ZMY-08906 bottles and cartridges. According to the info I found on Digiprint's website http://www.digiprint-supplies.com/mutoh-bulk-ink-system-4-bottles-4-cassettes-zmy-08906.html and the information I received from Nazdar regarding their ink https://sourceone.nazdar.com/P/4099/Nazdar-2100-Solvent-Inkjet-Ink it should work just fine in my system. BUT when I talked to Mutoh they told me that that bulk ink system was only for Dye-Sub inks.... then the guy told me that many companies in central America use the printer with that BIS with out issue. So I'm really wanting to believe people and switch because right now I'm using a full set of OEM 440 carts every few weeks, and the savings would be huge. BUT the last thing I want is for the ink to melt the BIS and leave me with 4 liters of ink to clean up not to mention out nearly $1000 to boot. Can anyone here shed more light on this?

We put a Bulk system on our 1624 the day we got it last November. It has never run OEM ink. We use JetBest ink and a Knight bulk system, you have to buy cards and replace them, but the savings over OEM are huge.

I second FatCat. All our Mutoh's are on the Knite Bulk Ink System. We also bought a smart card charger along with the smart cards/codes from sovlentcartridges.com. JetBest has good prices on bulk ink and the ink works great. No issues.

has anyone actually used the BIS I referenced I am drawn to it as it is actually manufactured by mutoh and does not seem to need extra cards to reset the chips

Best price I found - just ordered a new one last month for our new 1624X, arrived in about a week or so...

We opted for the new style "direct tubing" cartridge, which basically is just an ink line running though the cartridge into the needle valve, so it's basically like extending the line from your printer with no mess or fuss with the old style float cartridges.

Bulk Ink for Mutoh Valuejet

This is the most used bulk ink system for Mutoh printers. You can have the machine up running in 20 minutes. Direct feed line is great; just there are many lines to figure out. These will work just like OEM ink cartridge except you refill through a funnel. 2 days shipping via Fedex ground. We ship daily from S. California. Use same color profile from Mutoh Eco ultra ink, plug and play. No need to mess with flushing or purging if you are switching from OEM. Customer service is always there for our customers. Reference is always available on all Mutoh eco solvent printer models.

Smart Card

Smart card is not re-loadable. Customer needs to buy smart card every 440ml ink usage or there is a way to prolong the life of the smart card up to approx. 3,000ml of ink usage.

http://www.premiercolour.com/mutoh-smart-card-for-1204-1304-1604-1614-2606/

Ink customer pays $10.00 per smart card.
The four refillable cartridges, four liters of ink cmyk, eight smart cards with shipping $450.00. It is all you need.

I am used Bulk Ink system with charged smartcards also. But I found most cheaper solution.
I am purchased service code for permanent disable smartcard system of printer and use now third-patry ink without any cards on my VJ1624 and VJ1638 printers within 2 years.

Yes, we buy new smart cards - JetBest charges $7/ea. Would love to find an easy way to disable the chip reader...

When you install new cards.
Set a print of and whilst it is printing remove the cards and install an old set.
You will never need to buy cards again, or until the cards go out of date.
Just as long as you do not turn the machine off but they stil work if you put it in sleep mode.
I am running a set which were new in december 2014 and still all showing about 80%

I think this method can be used for old generation of ValueJet (1203-1304-1604-1614)
But 1624 and 1638 has another logic for smartcard system.

I stand corrected.....lol

Typical, Mutoh trying their hardest to lock us into using only their overpriced ink.
I am also using Jetbest on my 1604 and 3 years on the same print head and zero blocked nozzles.
