Hello everyone,

I got the offer for used Mimaki JV3-160SP, in top condition. Print head test looks good for every head. Printed only 1200m2.. But someone took down the system for rolling and the fans...

here is the picture

i am worried, will i have problem with drying of prints? I need 2x4CMYK...

I'm confused because I saw JV-130SL originally no fans?

tnx

i've run my mimaki for nearly a decade, so I'll chime in...
able to print without fans/take-up? yes and no.

yes you can print.
-anything longer than 3ft, you will have to devise your own way of keeping your print from laying on the ground and/or allowing printed surfaces from touching.

no you can't print fast.
-slower speeds and higher pass rates to keep your most recently-laid ink on the heating platen as long as possible to help it dry before it heads off into a world of uncertainty.

honestly, buy the printer.
... then go shop for parts and get it up to snuff, and you'll be a happy mimaki owner. i'd be a sad panda running a printer like that, but it also could be cause I'm spoiled after running a GREAT machine these past few years, and I guess it still beats not running a printer at all!

thank you all for your help and experiences!

I have one more offer from another guy... but it appears that one of three head is maybe clogged due to downtime, we will test it soon, but i need to buy new set of inks because he has some 2 year old inks, and I'm afraid of old ink clogging.. the pump and dumper was changed on that channel before two days by service guy...

Hi bought it 2008, and barely used it.. hi printed only about 500m2, and previous two years was unused... machine was full of cleaning solution...

it was six color setup, CMYK+LC+LM. I read manual, and that means one head is unused. Is it bad for the head or it means that is brand new?
