Ripped off on Craig's List.

My wife, being a trusting soul, purchased a used Rosetta Stone, Spanish
program for my daughters home schooling. Well, guess what. No software
code came with it. No help from Rosetta Stone and the guy she bought it
from is, of course, unreachable. It is not a boot leg I'm sure. It came with
all manuals in the original box, etc. It was probably stolen, would be my
guess. So, any hackers out there have any ideas how one could retrieve a
software code, or any other ideas on what recourse we might have?

did she pay cash?

Yes. It was such an obvious rip off. She met the guy somewhere for the
exchange, so she has no address. The phone number is no longer in service.
If I had been paying attention to what she was doing, I would not have let
it happen. Oh well. Live and learn. We can purchase the code from Rosetta
Stone....at the cost of new software.

Try emailing him through craigslist, if that does not work, call the cops. They can get the info from the old phone number as long as it was not a disposable cell phone. go get him!

No code anywhere. Actually, my wife tells me the phone does still ring, but
never an answer, so we are going to see if we can pursue that avenue in
whatever way we can. Thanks.

Have you heard the news about craigslist. There was a guy selling a diamond for like 2500-3000 dollars and this other guys calls him to meet each other to buy the diamond. But instead of the guy paying he kills him and takes the diamond and runs away. That is some scary s#$t goin on when it comes to craigslist.

Heard about that one.

But it's not related to Craig's List. It's related to a lack of common sense.
