I did not own the machine prior to TR2. I did have white ink but the tech replaced it with another magenta, eliminating the circulation mode. Even still, it wastes a ton. I just wish there was a fix to turn off cleaning while awake! Cmon Roland give us a fix!!
So it's about 650 ml a month of ink waste because of excessive cleaning. I wish Roland could do something!! How much are the newer VG2 and VG3 owners averaging on waste ink?
same exact thing happend to me. Used 3 different types of vinyl 3m, oracal, printed vinyl, before I figured it was the lexan. I used translucent white 'plexiglass' with black vinyl- problem solved. Still looks perfect. It had everything to do with the LEXAN, black vinyl and the sun blasting it...
Is this a normal amount of ink in a week's time with very little usage??
Every other time loading material goes through a clean cycle. Driving me nuts with the waste!! And then a slight clean for test print. (I want to see what the test print shows before a slight clean.)
Vg640, TR2 ink...
2nd update! The problem I thought was solved but still having dropout on test print exactly as the first photo in this thread and comes back to perfection after a "normal" clean. Each morning while sitting overnight -same thing, dropout and 1 normal clean looks and prints great. As stated...
Update: there was a small leak under the captop where the small tube on the bottom of captop meets the small plastic junction. Evidence of cyan dripping from the bottom. Holding so far! Thanks for the help and input.
Prints look fantastic after 1 clean in the a.m. ..just when it sits overnight, dropout occurs. But the heads always have a perfect test print after that first clean. Just racks my brain to why.
No I want to fix the problem not just let it ride. Like I stated before was hoping to find answers on the effectiveness on a "fill damper" to eliminate dropout while sitting overnight.
Every morning the test print looks like the attached and after 1 reg clean comes back perfect and prints like a champ. Replaced all captops and had the tech install and made sure it's seating correctly. Fairly new heads. It also used to jump from one channel to the next. Now its only on the...
I am using the cleaning cartridge for white. Bought it that way. I am using media profiles in Versawaorks that are CMYKcmk (no white) Are you talking about configuration in service mode on the printer?
No way to get into the service mode after the TR2 ink upgrade. Anybody got a fix yet to get into Service Mode on VG-640? Or in the very least can a Roland tech stop the cleaning before each print in Service Mode?
I have the latest firmware updates and TR2 ink conversion (Periodic cleaning set to none.) Has anyone figured out how to get around it cleaning before EACH print. I truly believe it is overkill. Watching daily my wasted ink container rise. Sooo much ink waste! Any Roland techs know a way?
