  1. Question about color issue.

the pick guard on that guitar is supposed to be white, and the diamond plate should be gray, why they are so pink is odd, i can't imagine a profile being that heavy to magenta unless it was profiled on blue vinyl. As everyone has stated, yes, try a different profile. Also, use the test print...
  2. sp 300v print heater

heat relay board is under the platen. taking off the back cover might be easier since there isn't a heater attached to it. it'll be the only PCB there, but it's screwed in. If you have a tiny screwdriver life is easier, but worst case scenario like me, it's a screwdriver bit and some pliers to...
  3. HP Latex 79:04 error when doing color calibration

Most solutions point to doing an EPROM reset, and failing that a reset to defaults. usually a hardware fault will give a specific failure to that component. Updating the firmware from a USB stick or the web server could also help.
  4. sp300 yellow line sucked magenta while in capping station

usually a bad cap, but also could be a blocked drain line.
  5. XC-540 Users you're my only hope

check the movement of the carriages by hand, see if they have a sticky point somewhere across the scan. It's less common than the servo board, but the linear bearings can jam up and cause scan motor errors.
  6. No black or Yellow printing!

ink will usually cross contaminate in the cap, either from the foam being too swollen, the cap not sealing well, or the drain line is blocked/kinked. Replacing the caps is a good start, they aren't expensive or difficult to replace.
  7. roland sp300v problem

prints are shifting from the encoder strip. cleaning it is usually enough to solve the issue. the cutter doesn't use the encoder strip, so the cuts are likely where they should be, but the print is way off.
  8. Tru Vis VG vs. Pro-4 XR

VG ink is glossy, and it uses new heads/dampers/caps/wiper system/inks and rip. The rip itself looks identical to versaworks, but handles gradients and transparancy layers in PDFs with a lot less fuss. pro4 has been around longer, and at least has an established record of how it performs over...
  9. XC-540 MAGENTA Half Firing and woes..

thats pretty hokey service, the fuses even right from roland are a few bucks, and none of the ribbon cables are terribly pricey either. while i've never replaced components of a board, i know people have with good success. a replacement head board is floating around a grand, while a single...
  10. Roland sc-540: Spools off 7 feet of vinyl each time I press the Setup key.

before you press setup, what is read on the printer screen? Roll - measure the width only edge - measure the width, and cycle the media to the front paper side sensor piece - measure the width, then the length by spooling out all the vinyl i'd imagine it's on piece, pressing left or right...
  11. Using XR-640 as cutter only

Possibly printing from the software, using the roland_VW printer, and setting the queue a options under cut settings to enable "cut all paths" it might pick up the lines at cut marks.
  12. Any VG Tru Vis users out there?

Tru-vis ink just seems to be really glossy in some colours.
  13. Sp300v print cut alignment issues

Also, if the first cuts are accurate, and gets more off the further it goes, the media is likely skewing. Usually the fault of hardened pinch rollers, or weakened pinch roller arms. Also make sure the grit rollers are clear of paper and adhesive, they can limit grip. Slowing the cuts down can...
  14. Any VG Tru Vis users out there?

is it the ink having different levels of glossyness?
  15. setup sheet/cancelling.....

flaky connection on the pinch roller up/down interrupt sensor is a possible one, can't think of much else that would cause that outside a board going wonky.
  16. Print and plot from Versaworks

Steve, make sure you have an eps margin set to something higher than 0. it's located in settings->queue a settings->file format. set it to something like 0.1 inches, and add the file again. sometimes the bounding box of an EPS overlaps the cut lines and cancels them out, this adds a buffer to...
  17. Color

might be in the pantone library inside versaworks. you can substitute any RVW colour with a pantone inside the file format-double click on the colour, and the bottom of that window there is an advanced, or custom check box, and from there a drop-down menu to change it for a variety of options...
  18. Roland SC 540

throughput of a parallel cable (from memory, last time a transfewred a file over it) is around 50KB/sec. the postscript from a large print can be a few hundred megs. a 200 meg file at that speed is 68 minutes.
  19. heater error message

    Looks like a thermistor error.
  20. Printhead replacement urgent question!!

I can't remember any heads making noise when they are turned over, but it's not really something i listened for. You don't need to do a pump up for changing a head, unless you were changing the colour (going from a 4 colour to a 6, or vise versa) I'd leave the cartridges in, if you lose...
