i purchased 3 AMD quadcore (2.8ghz), 4gb ram systems (no OS) for $500. they came from a local pc parts and system shop. I bought them with the next 2+ years in mind.
Anyhting less would probably not be worth it. imho

Yes. applied before installation. As for durability, this method has proven to be more durable than film laminate on perf for us. We've had a couple customer complaints about the lack of visibility when film laminated too.
But do trim about 1/4" away from the window edges and apply some film...
We spray it on with a gun mimicking an aerosol pattern. Applying a light coat. Most often we use Frog Juice though. No setup and preparation time. Just shake and spray! :)
We use Frog Juice / liquid lam. instead of film laminate. It gives the vehicle operator better visibility. And as Kwiksigns said, trim the perf maybe 1/4" from the edge and 'seal' it with a strip of film laminiate.
we have an H700, which EFI reps have stated 'they wouldn't sell to their worst enemy'!!!!

sorry, the rastek i have has shutters that will open and close with each pass. you can configure which lamps open and close with each pass direction. the lamps are on all of the time. hope i didnt confuse you and im glad you got it working. i had a alot of trial and error with the flatbed and...
i run a flatbed, but its not a mimaki. i only have the lamps come on (shutters open) in one pass direction. (left or right).
this helps with the heat and prevents 'lawnmowing'.
i usually feed thin materials out 6" or so before the ink will start laying down. this gives the material more area...
and 1/2" forged steel will build muscles and protect employees from bullets!
13mil corex. and just slap printed opaque vinyl on the existing sign for a money saving quick turn fix when its time to update the message. no need to peel it ( or grind it!)
