  1. Suggestions Desktop Printer for Proofing

I was curious about when you tried using a different printer as a proofing printer- did you compare the proofing printer's 3d representation of the gamut of the icc profile to the target printer's 3d representation of the gamut of the icc profile? Also- were you using any facilities within the...
  2. Pantone / Adobe copyright issues

If you own an Xrite color measurement device like an i1pro{1,2,3}, and you have a copy of Pantone Color Manager(which can be downloaded from https://www.pantone.com/customer-service/software-download), you can still create CGATS, ASE, and/or ACB files which can be loaded into whatever software...
  3. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

Thank you. It's amazing to be able to communicate with you- as I now know you are of the company that is named for the messy splotch of milk producer of certain kinds of cheeses. ;-) Thank you again. I'll show you what things look like after I make some with this process.
  4. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

I don't know if you saw the version of my message with the test images attached, but you may want to look at my message again. I presently have a GBC slot laminator that has heat assist, so once the roll comes in, I will try that too. I remain grateful for your comments/help. May I know your...
  5. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for mentioning Wooster Products to me. I was pleasantly surprised by their coarse clear griptape product as to how well it preserved details on some printer test images I use to check my media configuration work on my print process. It is not as...
  6. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

Thank you for that nice image of your printwork. I was wondering- are you using a CMYKcm or CMYKOG as a six ink configuration? Also- do you clearcoat on top of the print, or just print and out it goes to the customer?
  7. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

That's interesting. I hoped to be able to use Ultra-Grip, largely because as you have said- there is an expected performance by skateboarders in particular, but for very detailed high resolution imagery I found it unsatisfactory.
  8. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

Is most of the printwork you do based on what I would refer to as classical line-ish/cartoon-ish skate art? The reason I ask is because the anti-slip particle density on Ultra-Grip is so high that it is ok for line-ish/cartoonish art, but not so for images of greater detail like natural...
  9. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

Thank you for your reply. May I know what you do for anti-slip?
  10. Skateboard Heat Transfer Material

Thank you for all the good information you have been kind enough to share in this discussion. I do some longboard griptape printing using aqueous inkjet BOPP w/permanent PSA, outdoor-rated textured laminate film, and Skate-Dek from Surfsource for anti-slip. I was curious about whether you had...
  11. Need Help Can you print on Avery V2000

You're welcome. If I may clarify- I was asking if you considered making your own media configuration from scratch, inclusive of calibration/linearization, ink limiting, and profile.
  12. Need Help Can you print on Avery V2000

You can print on a printable clear film that has permanent adhesive, laminate that to the v2000, and then use liquid laminate or laminate film as a protectant. Your color management can be easier too. I am curious though- can you create your own media configuration, complete with...
  13. L26500 Color matching

Just to help out: When you have a color matching problem, the first question to consider is whether you have done the normal steps of color management: 1. Make sure you have made a valid ICC profile for your monitor. What you see on your monitor is a mysterious and meaningless nothing without...
  14. Import L*a*b*/D50 Adobe Swatch Exchange files palettes in Coreldraw Graphics Suite 2020/2021?

Update: Corel refuses to address the issue of incorrect import of ACO palettes.
  15. Question How do you make a transmissive profile for a clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer?

Just to explore a little- is accuracy impossible largely due to potential variability of things like the illuminant in the viewing environment and/or manufacturing variation in the optical clarity of the print film/clear backer film used during measurement?
  16. Question How do you make a transmissive profile for a clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer?

Just to mention what I actually did- I decided to try out Grafix Clear-Lay Plastic Film, .003" thickness. I used a slot laminator(GBC H700 Pro) to adhere the printed clear film to the clear plastic film. The Barbieri Spectro LFP RT read the charts well. Thank you again to all who commented.
  17. Question How do you make a transmissive profile for a clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer?

Thank you to everyone for responses so far. Next stage of the question- I have been looking for an appropriate clear film on which to mount the adhesive backed clear film print. Anyone have suggestions?
  18. Adobe - Changes coming to the Pantone Color Libraries

Yes. It is still available for download and it still connects to Pantone Live for updates
  19. Adobe - Changes coming to the Pantone Color Libraries

Pantone Color Manager, at least for some indefinite period, remains as the best path for batch downloading of L*a*b* values for Pantone fan decks. If you have an I1 spectro, you are licenesed to use Pantone Color Manager. Pantone is trying to get everyone migrated to their monthly extortion...
