  1. Question How do you make a transmissive profile for a clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer?

I would be interested in knowing how to do a transmissive profile for clear film when it has permanent adhesive and an opaque backer. Obviously you need to remove the backer, but do you then attach the printed clear film with adhesive exposed to a non-adhesive clear film, and then do the...
  2. Need help on choosing a spectrophotometer

Could you mention how it failed? Were you able to get profilemaker, colorpicker, and/or measuretool to start?
  3. Need help on choosing a spectrophotometer

I use Profilemaker 5 and its related components under windows 10 regularly without a problem.
  4. Need Help EPSON 80600 ICC color

You may really need to have someone create a custom profile for you as opposed to using a canned profile.
  5. Upgrading to Latex or Solvent inks.

Lexjet, Sihl, Breathing Color/Permalite, and many other aqueous inkjet media producers also offer solvent inkjet printable materials(canvas too). If you want to print on fine art materials, you can use classic uncoated artist papers that you might find from Fedregoni, Fabriano, Zerkall, and...
  6. Question Can Flexisign for Avery Dennison TrafficJet Use the Spot Colors for Extended Gamut instead?

I was wondering if the Flexisign RIP as supplied for the Avery Dennison TrafficJet printer can use the spot colors (red, green, blue, and/or brown) as part of an extended gamut process color inkset configuration(CMYKRGBBr).
  7. What Rip are most people using on their Epson S80600?

Ergosoft has an advantage in the quality of its extended gamut inkset printing as well as the control it gives to the user over the ink limiting and linearization processes. You also have the best control of the patch count and size of all test charts.
  8. Need Help Wasatch Version 6.8 User Manual

https://wasatch.com/hc/video/video/spotColor.mp4 Also, although this video doesn't talk about it, it appears that you should be able to use your spectro to read the color from the dyed fabric and use it as a spot color. Try the 'spot color capture button'.
  9. Road to Dummy Terminals Marches On (Among Other Roads)

Thank you- I should have mentioned security, but that would begin a long discussion wondering why people have ignored capability-based security in operating systems that existed forty years ago, with better confinement/isolation than people seem to dream about today.
  10. Road to Dummy Terminals Marches On (Among Other Roads)

Some things that continue to motivate my avoidance of cloud services, ASPs, and other rentier contrivances: 1. lax data protection standards and intellectual property protections for your business 2. lack of source code escrow terms in ASP agreements that protect customers by assuring business...
  11. Need Help Color matching sublimated fabrics to dyed material for sport jerseys

Since you have a good color profile, if you can purchase Colorant L from Chromix, you can get a corrected device ink build for the spot color you are trying to achieve. You can use Colorant L to measure the dyed fabric green color, setup Colorant L to use that as a spot color, feed the profile...
  12. Need Help Color matching sublimated fabrics to dyed material for sport jerseys

Some questions, if you wouldn't mind- 1. Do you own a spectrophotometer? 2. Which RIP software do you use? 3. Do you have a properly calibrated and ICC profiled operating environment for your sublimation printing?
  13. Beware of Suppliers in Indonesia

Just to share an experience- some years ago, I saw an incredible price on DX4 heads from an Indonesian supplier. I contacted my local Indonesia consulate to ask about their legitimacy. I gave the consular official the name, address, and phone number of the business, and the official reported to...

  15. Roland TrueVis and Avery MPI SC-1105 issues

Whatever RIP you(LarryB) use, there are four elements to how ink is laid down: 1. droplet size(usually 3 per channel with epson heads) 2. relationship between light inks(LC/LM/LK) and full tone inks(C/M/K) as to where the light ink stops and the full tone begins 3. per-channel ink limits...
  16. Roland TrueVis and Avery MPI SC-1105 issues

You didn't say in your message which media configuration/profile you are using. If you are trying to use a media configuration/profile that does not account for the unique inks on the VG2-640 such as light black, and orange- you may see flooding. The profiles that are available on line are at...
  17. Color Match

The simplest thing to do is to use your eye one to get an L*a*b* measurement for the color, and then create a spot color entry in your media configuration / print environment in your rip. To proceed according to finding the closest Pantone, Pantone Color Manager software in combination with...
  18. LOST CUT ICON ON ERGOSOFT 14

Can you access the functionality using ctl-alt-c?
  19. Anyone have L*a*b* color numbers for MUTCD traffic colors?

Thank you for explaining- I'm curious- how do(es) the failure(s) manifest? Is it fading of the inks despite outdoor laminates, or insufficient ink density, or perhaps delamination, etc.?
  20. Import L*a*b*/D50 Adobe Swatch Exchange files palettes in Coreldraw Graphics Suite 2020/2021?

A little update about this- Coreldraw is specified to support ACO palettes- but the problem is that it is implemented incorrectly. The actual spot color names will not show up in Coreldraw. This has been reported to Corel and has been sent to developers for consideration.
