I actually do think that people doing color work should own an accurate spectrophotometer
that they can afford. I certainly would not tell them to hold it up to their computer screen.
Even so, the real issue at base is that many people who use CMYK for a color specification
don't know that CMYK...
A CMYK color specification without a color space profile(like US Web Coated Swap V2) is MEANINGLESS.
You are playing color roulette/pin the tail on the donkey when you try to specify color this way.
Using Pantone swatches to visually match is the same game.
Measure the color you want with a...
Which RIP software are you using to control your printers?
The color management equipment you can use depends to a great extent on
what printer control software(a RIP) that you use.
The main alternative to Pantone is to simply ask people to measure the color they want
and supply the L*a*b* measurement to their print provider. ASE files consisting of names
and spot color L*a*b* measurements can also be compiled and used as a communication
between print customers and print...
For those of us who already own and use i1profiler, is there any way to create device profiles inclusive of an icc profile for rasterlink without needing Profile Master Pro?
Mural artists use a material known as Polytab, which is a nonwoven polyester cloth, to do outdoor murals on

Depending on display conditions, and assuming protective topcoats are used- this may not be true for desktop and/or wide-format aqueous inkjet pigment ink.
The best way to specify a color is L*a*b*, or Lab. It is an
absolute specification of the color, because it does not
depend on a color space profile to give it meaning.
A good intro that explains this well is Ed Hagen's
Project BBCG- A Better Brand Color Guide, downloadable from...
I learned my answer from Wasatch today. They told me that what I referred to as a simulation profile they refer to as a color transform. I was also informed that a device link profile can be placed into a color transform.
The only meaningful specifications of a color are either a L*a*b* number or a spectral reflectance distribution.
You get these by actually measuring the color, or by having access to Pantone's L*a*b* specifications for
their various swatches. If someone provides you with an image file as their...
You may want to re-explore the nix:
https://www.nixsensor.com/color-sensor-recommendation/
You may notice that they support pantone matching based on the feature chart. The color libraries are a feature based on annual or monthly license charges.
The Nix products are not suitable for color...
If you are working in a color managed environment, and you have a good media configuration with an ICC profile- Colorant L from Colorlogic.de can in some cases correct the ink build to get an even more accurate reproduction of a spot/brand color.
I'd like to know two things please:
1. Can you use SS21 orange ink on the Mimaki CJV30?
2. Everyone may remember that the Roland orange ink on the RF640 eight color machine
would fade noticeably within 3 months. Anyone know about the permanence of the
SS21 orange ink?
