  1. DIY media flange for less than $5

Okay - here is my set of home built flanges. Material cost is under $5 each but, the pipe thread tap cost me about $40 with shipping. I am pretty happy with the results but, I had a hard time tapping the Badger Plugs in a straight manor. I think that some kind of alignment jig would help...
  2. Times are tough, or are they?

I was in that exact same position a few years ago. Our biggest client offered to buy us out and hire me to run their internal shop. I had worked for the dealership years ago and knew a couple of people there who could attest to the commonality of "broken promises" on behalf of management so I...
  3. looking for a printer,,but not sure which one

I used to do quite a few race cars every spring but, after a few years , it became obvious where it was all heading. The car owners might be willing to pay the first year but, most of them asked us to donate our time and materials in exchange for ad space on the cars. That may seem like a...
  4. Roland black lines misfiring, Please help!

I had an issue like that with my Mutoh - it ended up being the print head itself that was the cause.
  5. DIY media flange for less than $5

Mainframe, those look like decent flanges but, they are not the same as the Mutoh style flange which slides on a 1-1/4" shaft. It appears that the Roland flanges outer ring rests on a pair of tubes with a collar. I ordered a pair of flanges for the ValueJet @$17 each that look like they should...
  6. DIY media flange for less than $5

Actually, buying flanges is not as easy as it seems. I ordered new flanges (supposedly heavy duty) from GEI and they are the exact same ones as the original light weight junk. I am still searching for alternates but, without having part numbers - it's pretty tough to know what you are getting...
  7. DIY media flange for less than $5

Nice little bit of work there on those flanges. I have been searching for a good option for these for quite a while now and refuse to pay that kind of price for new ones. I have found that there are a few other brands of printer that use the same system and shaft size, so now I am searching...
  8. Streaks in the black and the Cyan

The print head may be misfiring due to static electricity or a bad print head. I had similar issues that were ultimately resolved by replacing the related print head. Temporary relief came by unchecking the microdot feature (if you use that) but, the issue later returned until the head was replaced.
  9. Heres the pic of Mutoh issue

I had those lines and found that they were eliminted for a while by unchecking the "Microdot" function in driver options. If that does not correct it, it might be a bad head. I have since replaced the head and the issue is gone completely now. A friend of mine has some of the lines from time to...
  10. HELP e074err Y Current

The loose pulley on the Y motor is a very common issue. Both ours and a friends had the issue and the new motors have be redesigned to eliminate the problem.
  11. Falcon Outdoor issue

I have never replaced the carriage but, I have replaced almost everything else. The steel band (Belt) should be tightened so that it rides consistantly at the same height on the wheels. If the band makes noise as it moves then it is most likely too tight. If it is too loose, you will get error...
  12. Microdot?

Does anyone know how the "Microdot" feature works on the Mutoh Falcon Outdoor - is it a printer function or strictly software. I am troubleshooting an on-going issue with lines through the prints and that is the feature that is causing the problem but, I am not able to determine if it's in the...
  13. Flexi 8.5 Issue

New Info I am still having issues here but, I have done a lot of testing and have sent detailed information (Beta Test Style) to SAi for the engineers to play with. The primary trigger that is causing the issue is the use of "Microdot" in the printer driver options. If I have that feature...
  14. FlexiPro 7.6v2- outline problems

I have had that issue when exporting files for use in PhotoShop and a couple of work arounds to try are: - be sure the entire design is converted to outlines and/or - rasterize the image in Flexi prior to exporting I also have problems with gradients that appear fine on the monitor but...
  15. Flexi 8.5 Issue

The issue continues to resurface every once in a while and I'm not sure what triggers it. I don't typically alter the profiles at all and it seems like the more changes you make - the more color issues you have at some point. I had a problem keeping the profiles working in previous versions too...
  16. Flexi 8.5 Issue

I just solved a problem with Flexi Production Manager and thought it might be of help to some others. I was getting thin lines through my digital prints that ran parallel with the carriage travel. Initially, it appeared to be all printer related but, after many hours of troubleshooting the...
  17. Falcon Issue

Final Solution Before almost buying a new printer, I contacted Dell tech support and they helped me troubleshoot the issue. It turned out to be a glitch in Flexi's Production Manager. All I had to do was change the profile, try a test print and it works perfect. Then I changed back to the...
  18. Falcon Issue

Thanks for the tip but, no luck on the belt tightening - the Tech I contacted thinks that the head driver board may have been damaged when the belt broke so I guess I'll try replacing that next. Update: The tech suggested that I try to eliminate one other possibility - that being a possible...
  19. Falcon Issue

Do you have any tips for adjusting the belt for proper tension? I tightened it up quite a bit and that made no difference. I also cleaned the decoder strip a couple of times - no change.
  20. Falcon Issue

Thanks for your reply -The machine is clean - I did several extensive cleanings inside and out with a complete head wash also -Colors are Mutoh Eco-sol Ultra -Cat 5 cable from network hub to SEH pocket print server on printer parallel interface The problem started immediately after the belt...
