  1. How much do you pay your Graphics Guy?

I assume you are talking about a freelancer and not an hourly employee? We don't have any frelancers now, but back when we started out, we tried paying by the job. That was always difficult. If you have a really good freelance person you can rely on, pay them as much as you can and keep them...
  2. instead of drilling corrugated warehouse for 23" Gemini formed plastic - CAN I TRUST SILICONE & PAD MOUNT ONLY?

As Z SIGNS said, adhesive is a roll of the dice. A lot of variables. Adhesives are a test of your ability to understand and prep a surface. Most of the time good surface prep and quality materials will do the trick, but even then there are outliers. I mean no disrespect and encourage good...
  3. Credit Cards

This looks promising. I think there is an annual fee. I also noticed that Chase ink has 2% cash back on all purchases and 2.5% cash back on purchases over $5000 with a $200 annual fee. So far, if you put less than about $50k a year on a credit card, the FNBO evergreen seems to be the best...
  4. Credit Cards

We do. The last 12 months we were around 2.92%. We take every single little fee they charge us, against the total revenue processes through CC and calculate that. The cost of processing depends greatly on the types of cards your customers use. Debit cards are fairly cheap, corporate rewards...
  5. Higher prices appear to be here to stay

Yes. All these cost increases are and should reflect in pricing. You can use something like our shop rate calculator to figure your hourly shop rate. My guess is that many of your input costs today are 10-50% higher than they were two years ago. This doesn't necessarily mean your hourly rate...
  6. Question Graphtec vs Summa for sheets of stickers/which has a "better" workflow using only rasterlink?

We run graphtecs. The channel is where it’s at. We run an onyx workflow though. I don’t think you can go wrong with either, but we sold our summa after only a year and took a $5000 hit once we tried the graphtec. Workflow is everything for us though.
  7. Discussion Slowing down or staying busy?

Our rigid and screen side has slowed a fair bit. Sticker and other vinyl decal is staying quite busy.
  8. Canon Colorado 1650 FEEDBACK

With how picky this printer is with its profiles, I would say you need to run onyx. Canon will build profiles for you if you send them a roll of media.
  9. Canon Colorado 1650 FEEDBACK

Sometimes the calibrations help. Generally when we need printheads replaced, it because nozzles have been lost. Our Durst and vanguard printer have tens of thousands more nozzles and I think we are missing a total of 5 across both machines combined. Something about our Colorado just doesn’t...
  10. Canon Colorado 1650 FEEDBACK

Our install was similar. Yes, we’re getting a quote on the all inclusive so the print head cost will be their problem. Banding still takes production to a snails pace though, it’s not just the cost of the printheads.
  11. Canon Colorado 1650 FEEDBACK

So I have hesitated to say anything, but we have put alot of money into our 1650. When it runs it runs just great, but we go through printheads like they are consumables. Just about to put in 2 more. I think we’ve had to replace 15 now. 2 years, under 400k sqft. They aren’t cheap either at $4k...
  12. Small shop looking for employee management advice

We have quite specialized roles here, but that's generally how businesses grow. You start off with everyone wearing tons of hats, but as your business grows and full time positions become available for more specific job functions, you'll find it easier to hire people that fill those specific...
  13. Wind slits

I agree with both comments above. Post some photos when you’re done! (and don’t forget to put them on your Facebook page and google my business profile)
  14. Inflation Versus Interest Rates

I do feel like things are calming down a bit around here in the Midwest. Gas has come back down mostly and I paid the same for groceries this month as I did last month for the most part. Part of that is alot of stuff is now in season but part of it is stuff calming down. In terms of the 30...
  15. Inflation Versus Interest Rates

Here's a pretty good video with an answer to the OP. Raising rates makes loans more expensive, which means we buy less. It also means saving cash in the bank is more lucrative due to higher savings rates. People may choose to save money rather than buy something. Spending less money on stuff...
  16. Durst Rho P5-350HS - UV Fabric Printing

Have you reached out to mike syverson at durst about what they run when they are at the show?
  17. Hi all

    Welcome!
  18. Hello All

    Welcome!
  19. Credit Cards

Meh. I see everyone nowadays charging to use a CC. If you feel like you need to, then go ahead. You'll be fine. Also, if you go with someone like PayPal, Square or Stripe for CC processing, they will cover all the PCI compliance fees for you. For a small business, I strongly recommend just...
