I'd say $2,200 is pretty high for such an old machine. Keep in mind that if you buy it and the main board or blade actuator goes out, there aren't any parts available so you would have to find used ones to cannibalize. You could get a band new 54" Mimaki for around $3k with similar specs and...
Unfortunately when it drips like that instead of spraying it does indicate a damaged head. I've never seen a brand new one do that though. Usually the damage is caused by flushing the head too hard or the head is very old and just worn out. Did you flush the head before installing it? That's a...
The drivers wouldn't load but I was able to get them to load by turning off Windows Driver Signature Enforcement. Windows now sees them when I connect the USB but the port doesn't show up in the drop down list in Flexi? Any ideas?
Usually a crooked print is a sign of a dirty or damaged encoder but usually in that case you will get more of a stair stepping pattern not just a crooked print. If the edges of the print look like tiny little steps, I'd start by cleaning the encoder.
Other than that, while it's true that...
I agree. Our local branch has had a bunch of trouble but at least our guy comes in and explains that we might be getting things later than usual. But I mostly made the comment because his avatar is Newman from Seinfeld!
Was the printer running fine before not being used for a while? Also, am I understanding correctly that random characters seem to be printing when they shouldn't as well? Post a nozzle check.
As mentioned above, try a new damper. If that doesn't so the trick and you know ink is flowing properly, it's probably a failing head and\or head board. When you change the damper, make sure to take a look at the manifold first. Use a bright light so it's easier to see any cracks or damage. A...
There is a part on the carriage that looks like a thin piece of metal with lines cut through it. It's an encoder for the actuator. If it has dust or something else on it that prevents the optical sensor from reading the lines properly, you can get erratic movement like this.
Is it in remote mode? Also, this may have changed but for a long time the USB port was simply named, "USB_PRINTER_0" in the drop down list. The machine has to be on and plugged in for that to show up though. I assume you have already installed the latest Mimaki USB driver?
If you're running one printer off of it, cores don't matter as much as clock speed. If you need to RIP multiple files at once, more cores can help. I wouldn't go less than 16gb of ram and an M.2 drive will help as well.
Feel free to contact us. We can get Epson parts but may need a serial number for heads. It's best to email for quote requests. Support@solventinkjet.com
