Try an air purge on the clear. Usually when there are issues with ink flow consistency it's air in the system. Also, make sure you aren't using primary filters on the clear. They should be the circular white filters not the large black cylinder style the other colors use.

If you don't want to sub out, go find a Roland SP-300v or SP-300i. It's right around your budget, 30 inches wide, and they are easy to fix. If you want to go brand new, Mimaki has a 30" CJV150 but they are phasing them out in favor of the JV100 which doesn't have a 30" option at the moment.

That's most likely a RIP problem. Make sure the RIP is set to get the media width from the printer and not overriding it with a manual size.

I agree with Impact1. Also, errors that pop up while printing but don't stop the print are almost always basic errors like an ink cartridge being near end, the heater has reached it's proper temp, or maybe all 8 cartridge slots aren't being used etc.

If you're using Flexi you can go into the printer options and select a single head to print with. It's in the same area where you choose the wave form. I've done it in Flexi but it might be doable in other RIPS as well.

I never saw a solvent or latex printer print a good white. UV is the solution.

Which fuses did you change? The one that is on the head circuit is located on the main board and is a very tiny ceramic fuse and not a big glass one. If you didn't check that fuse, that should be the issue.

Parts should be easy to find in for the time being. Roland has moved away from Epson based heads so at some point they will stop offering them. The good news is that it's not special to the Roland so you can pop any DX7 head whether it's from Epson directly or Mutoh/Mimaki. I wouldn't worry...

Don't delete the BAK file. It's the file with the defaults in it! You can also just copy what's in the BAK file and paste it in the mainwindow file. Or open the file in notepad and edit it how you like.

Close Rasterlink and then go to C:\Mijsuite\ENV\RL01\ and look for a file called, "Mainwindow" and delete it. Next time you open Rasterlink it will recreate the file using default values. Hope that helps!

I've got the cables in stock here if you still need them. Roland locks down their tech and parts more than any other manufacturer so it's harder to stock them without being an official dealer.

Encoders do come with a film sometimes for sure. In my experience with the JV3 it's usually the sensor being bad that causes the heads not to fire at all. When you cleaned it, it may have become damaged in some way.
