We use Flexi 7.6 to design and the round corner function sucks- one of
the only things I don't like about Flexi- the older version (5.7) this worked
a treat. When we cut graphics/lettering that has been laminated on a
drag knife cutter (GX-500) it wants to lift the sharp corners (not as bad...

The thread about the cut optimizer for corel got me thinking-
is there a way to do this in Flexi? I design in Flexi and print and
cut thru VersaWorks. I understand we can do it in the Flexi cut
window- but this doesn't work with VWorks. Gene
PS- I have read the threads about VW cutting...
Bobby has done me a great service... and refused payment. You are da
man, man. I have always had the opinion that you are knowledgeable
and helpful, so when I needed some info- I thought of you. Good call on
my part- thanks again and I hope we can do some bidness so I can repay
you. Gene :U Rock:
Will VW ever have the capablity of sequential cutting? And it seems that
you cannot send a cut job to a cutter while driving the printer? Both of
these are production hurtles- and my old legs are tired. The good news
on my VP540/GX500 exerience is that I cut a 10+ foot print/cut yesterday...
I have worked with this for a week or so and I am wondering if what
I am doing is the best solution. I set up the printer for an offset 47"
print on the 54" material- see pict. That seems to be the only way to
get the roland registration marks to line up with where the GX-500 has
to have the...
Well I popped for a GX-500 just before the price increase (early Feb I think)
and finally have it and have time to get it set up. I built a vinyl catch 'sling'
and have started figuring out how to get it to cut from the VP reg marks
and early impression is that it is a way better cutter than...
OK- so I have been thinking about this for quite a while... and I finally bought a GX500 cutter which should be operational this weekend. I use
most often 2 types of vinyl and one of banner material- and switch several
times a day (we do a lot of different things for a ton of customers). So...
I use mostly calendered vinyl for our print production. I understand that
cast is better but for the our mix of printed products we have been using
Orajet 3165RA ( which I believe would correspond to IJ35C-10) and
Orajet 3551RA ( which I believe would correspond to IJ40C-10R).
We had...
I thought this was serpentine at first but it is not. Not a great pict I know
but the fond does have small serif but they also do not quite match Serpentine. Thanks Gene
I am considering this plotter to free up cutting time on my VP540 this
summer and (hopefully) get way better cuts on air release type vinyl.
Seems we need to cut more printed lettering to match the colors of printed
logos- and the VP540 is not a good cutter for this purpose. It is a real...
I am interested to know how 2011 was for our industry. The
recovery seems steady but slow in Minnesota. If you would like to
indicate your state or region that would be great also.
Great Year!

The GX-640 says that is a front or back loading machine- how does that work?
I would have to put it in a place that would be hard to load a 54" roll. Thanks
Gene
Last week I was having VW freezes constantly (it had been pretty good for
a while) and I thought that an upgrade couldn't be any worse... I loaded the
latest version (4.4 or something) and it was unusable. Fortunately I have been burned on this stuff often enough that I set a restore point...
