  1. VP feed direction Linear scale. Artbot in please

I started this in the Magenta banding thread- but decided to start a new one. The VP has a feed scale (think linear scale but four inches diameter) on the end of the grit roller shaft. I talked to my tech yesterday and he was surprised to hear that and said most Rolands don't have it. I am...

  3. Banding in various colors?

Are lighter blues more likely to band than other colors or is it my machine only? Head prints look great. I guess my question is... do you have some colors that band more consistently than others? Sometimes every other color on a print will look great- except for a light blue. Thanks Gene
  4. Round hanging (revolving) banner frames?

I have a customer looking for a round overhead banner 18 foot diameter- and need to educate myself... as this will be expensive and I don't want to screw it up. It is part of a very expensive trade show display that we are doing. Any advice? Creative Banner has a econo fiberglas frame that...
  5. GX500 USB cord max length?

I have been using a 15-16 ft cable for 4 or 5 months but it is getting cranky about connecting with Vworks- when I use a short cable it works. Not sure if the cable is failing or that is is just at the max (according to the USB wiki) length. I cannot get closer than 10 ft- and that will...
  6. Flexi 7.6 on Windows 7 64 bit / xp mode

I friend loaned me a new Dell 64bit computer with Win 7 pro on it to try to get my old version of Flexipro 7.6 to work- and it seems to work fine. I am still struggling with getting XP mode to play nice with my LAN but I am guessing that will be doable if I get someone in that actually knows...

  8. Has anyone ever had feed encoder probs?

I am back to fighting a banding problem. The last time I changed profiles and got a temp reprieve- the VP540 is 4 years old and does a lot of printing so I am going thru and checking everything that might make an old machine unhappy. Seems line the feed encoder (on the left end of the grit...
  9. Homebrew winder and IR heater- 54"

This has been a work in progress- but I think is is done and I am satisfied. Not only am I cheeep- but I like to customize things to my tastes. The winder is a rotisserie motor (50 or 100$) with a homebrew brass adapter to turn a closet rod with various plastic plumbing fittings to get to...
  10. Need reminders on printer?

Here is my answer to A. being forgetful and 1. having 2 or 3 different people running our printer. The white board is useful for multiple runs- which is common here. When starting a run I mark down the number of prints needed and the media start point. When that run is done the endpoint is...
  11. GX-540 tips and enable 'Extend' Cutting

Been meaning to post this all summer but... you know how it goes. A lot has been posted in a thread recently but I will start a new thread- perhaps easier to find. I bought a GX-540 to complement my Vp-540 and speed up production. The VP is 4years old and running perfectly. No heads / only...
  12. AI CS5- how can I check the rez of a bitmap

I use AI mostly to open other peeps files and then save to a version that works well with Flexi- this has alway puzzled me, I cannot figure a way to check the rez on an included raster (it is always to low- but I need to tell how low:smile:) Thanks Gene
  13. Need better eyesight? Best 12X loupe

My Roland tech had one of these the last time he was in and I was so impressed I ordered one on the spot. Get the lighting option- the angle is perfect- the first time (in 10years of printing) that I have been able to actually see the yellow head test prints. Also great for checking plotter...

  18. Constant robo calls from Google for free web site hosting

Very annoying. I have looked on Google (and Googled) to try to just decline the offer.
  19. Fish eyes in red and green

I am having a strange problem where I get what looks like fisheyes in some colors- always reds and some greens but not in yellow or black or most other colors. I have tried 4 different rolls and types of media. Changed filters (bulk ink system on VP540), captops, wipers and I have dampers...
  20. City eagle

My sweetie was hearing crows screeching Sat morning and investigated- found an eagle in the tree closest to our house with crows harassing him. He was there all day- the crows would come and go. Finally after 6-8 hours he flew off. His head is not quite white yet- an adolescent maybe?
