  1. What drill and drill bits are best used to put holes in walls?

How thick is concrete before you hit the steel? It may not even be necessary to deal with the steel.
  2. What sizes to cut sign face acrylic and frames

That is a PITA. Depending on the extrusions used you have to match the type of frame used and get good measurements. Unless its a folded aluminum box with a simple drop in face or a cheap one with angle for an outside frame, but you still need exact sizes.
  3. What sizes to cut sign face acrylic and frames

The "frame" (retainer) should be the same size outside dimension as the cabinet. What happened to the original retainers/frame? Like Johnny said the acrylic/lexan should be cut smaller depending on the size of the retainer. Remember though, if you have a face 1" smaller it is going to sit down...
  4. Need Help With a my Gerber Edge & GSX plus plotter

Wow, that is a bummer. But replacing a board or CPU shouldn't cost that much...do they fix Edges regularly?I'd want a second opinion. If it is dead and you get another, get the same one, that way you have parts.
  5. install crezone to a block wall

That's like MDO right? Lots of ways, depending on budget. Straight thru and touch up is cheapest. The strapping is a good idea but still requires fastening thru the face. You can do cleats. Or mount the strapping at the edge to make the sign look thicker and use clips.
  6. What is this material?

Yes, kinda. The Edge doesn't cut anything, you have to partner it with a15" sprocket fed plotter. The Edge can print on convex, then you apply the laminate and cut. My plotter has 30,45 and 60 degree blades for different materials
  7. What is this material?

"undercover printing technology" fancy way of saying reverse print on clear. They could be using convex vinyl/laminate which work in the Edge and are great for motocross stuff. The Edge is a great machine for limited run decals like that especially with spot colors, where you can us metallics...
  8. metal plaque on curved wall

It would depend on the radius and the type of metal plaque. If the radius is soft and it can be done on a thin metal it should be doable. I have done some things like this by building layers. A piece of black pvc with counter sunk fasteners and then the plate VHB and glued over that can work and...
  9. Maine in the fall

You got that right.....and actually Cape Breton has been a dream and last summer we were supposed to go, 2 day drive up, week there in a cottage on the coast, 2 day drive back...had to cancel due to work. With 2 kids going into college next year and another following right behind vacations are...
  10. Too fat for my step ladder?

Like the others have said you should be fine. I would be cautious about what you lift while you're at the top of the ladder, any ladder. And you may want to give it a good inspection once in a while tore everything's tight. My landlords business (union electricians) replaces their ladders when...
  11. Marketing Idea For Soliciting Vehicle Lettering Business

As was said, it's nothing new. The point about criticism of a poor design is a good one, people who aren't asking for an opinion can get mighty offended. Best approach is to stick to vehicle graphics/signs that are obviously past their prime and need replacing.
  12. Maine in the fall

New Hampshire has been my second home most of my life, if I were to suggest what to see there it would be to head up to Sebago Lake from Portland and then east across the Kancamagus Highway into the heart of the White Mountains. From there head due east into VT. Man I wish I had time for drives...
  13. Maine in the fall

Not exactly my backyard, but I've been in the area a bit. One other suggestion, if you can tear yourself away from the coast, is to check out one of the lakes or Baxter State Park, home of Mt Katahdin, highest in Maine and the end (or the beginning) of the Appalachian Trail. The thing about...
  14. Maine in the fall

Nova Scotia may be a bit of a haul unless you are there for a long time. You plan to wing it is great, just tooling along the coast from Portland to Bar Harbor and back could easily fill a vacation. And whale watching or a sailboat cruise around the islands is a great time. If you like hiking be...
  15. Just In Might have to sell the business...

You generate 100k in SALES? That may be good, but it's how much you keep in your pocket that will determine the value.
  16. Alumalite vs ACM

Geez Gino...I'm sure you remember the days of 4x8 3/4 MDO. Now that was something to lug around . I worked at a shop where we would buy truckloads of it and the storage area was thru a regular size door, around a corner and then up on the racks...
  17. Alumalite vs ACM

Alumalite is more rigid, but you have to deal with the edges. For some signs it doesn't matter, but for nicer projects it may make a difference. Alumalite is also more prone to dings. We use more ACM but still use alumalite too.
  18. Does anyone recognize this fill?

Yes, you may find a free image or use a place like 123RF, where you can buy single images
  19. Does anyone recognize this fill?

Agree, it looks like some water images clipped in. Maybe it's a fill, but probably not. Either they get good artwork or let them know you can find the closest images that work and use them.
