  4. Advice on Prismatic Lettering

Like rex said, play with it a bit. I tend to like prismatics more when two shades of the same color are used to create more of a 3d look, rather than two completely different colors.
  5. To Dell or not to Dell...

I have both dells and customs, and the dells outperform the customs speed-wise and have less freezes. AND they were cheaper!
  6. Summa DC4

I'm considering getting one, mostly for small decals and such. The one thing that concerns me is the print speed, though. Seems like a snail's pace. Have you still found it to be profitable at the low speeds?
  7. Batch Processing from Image Ready CS2

RJ, I don't know about image ready, but photoshop has the option..
  8. Air bubbles under vinyl

The only bubbles I've seen stick around are in metalized films, such as chrome. As long as it's a standard pvc vinyl, they have always gone away for us. Obviously NOT getting bubbles in the first place is ideal, but it doesn't always work out that way!

  12. Serial port on laptop HELP!!!!!

We also run the Belkin adapter from OfficeMax or Staples.. Can't remember which one. Works fine on the Vinyl Express cutters. Every once-in-awhile we have to unplug and plug it back in, but no biggie.
  13. New XC-540 Profiles

Just thought I'd let ya'll know Roland just released the new profiles for the Pro III. Here they are: http://www.oracal.com/learning_support/iccprofiles.jsp
  14. Print, Laminate Reload, Cut

Let your prints dry! It makes a difference, and most manufacturer's recommend 24 hours before laminating. I know this will slow things down dramatically, but realize you're taking your chances laminating before that. That said, we've been laminating for years right after printing, but have...
  15. font help again

Try Gravedigger. If you have a scan/picture of what you're looking for, post it and we'll try to help more!
  16. 300 to 540

We sold our 300 outright privately for 9k and just used that towards the xc-540. Dealer offered us 6k for it as a trade. Kinda like trading in a car or selling it. It's more work, but you usually come out a little better selling yourself.
  17. Parallel Cable Help...?

Well, I know that on our 24" panthers from signwarehouse we had to get cables direct from them. Nothing else would work, and when we asked them why, they said that the plotters needed their propietary cables. What you might try to do is still use the orignal cable, but add an extension to it?
  18. Versaworks Problem with Tiling

Not positive, but you should be able to tell it to print the whole thing in one shot. I would not recommend this, as you're talking about 40' of tracking. However, you should be able to tell it to make five copies and print both tiles at once. It should then print both five times with one set...
  19. Think customer-provided files are scary now??? Just wait...

Skyhigh--that sign of a sign is tanamount to us putting a picture of a truck on a truck! Happens at least once a month. I HATE it!!! This adobe deal looks like it'll be good for them, bad for us. With bandwidth slowing things down, people will be spending even MORE time making their designs...
  20. dont kno what to get!-

I believe the stika is a stepper machine. I'd say spend a few extra bucks and get a servo motor plotter. It'll operate smoother, and I imagine you doing a lot of small stuff. Small and smooth cuts are easier to work with.
