  1. Hybernate/Standy doesn't work..

Hey guys.. I noticed last week on my laptop (Dell inspiron 9400) that I'm no longer able to put it in hybernate or standby. The option is greyed out. Also, when I close the lid, it doesn't go into hybernate mode, either. Just started out of the blue. One of my guys said that the last...
  2. Got the ram, what about the rest of the machine?

Just had a new machine built and delivered on Weds.. I haven't had a huge amount of time to play with it, but I opened a few different PSD files.. one was 293mb and the other 514mb. The 293mb file was open IMMEDIATELY. Literally NO delay. The 514mb file took about three seconds. I don't have...
  3. Another Problem With My XC-540

Even without setting the basepoint, it shouldn't feed any extra material out. Ours doesn't anyways. Sounds like there's a setting off in the printer. I'd venture to say it's not a versaworks problem since it doesn't happen with every print.
  4. Roland SP-540V??

You might consider.. the XC-540. It's a few more bucks, but we sold our sp-300 and got the xc-540, and WHAT a difference! Kills it in speed and quality. Not sure if the 540v has the take up reel or not, but that's a MUST. No more babysitting the printer. Other than that, your price is good.
  5. Question on the icc profiles provided by Roland

Brian beat me to it. He mentioned color profiling everything else, and this is extremely important. Also, don't forget to embed the color profiles in your art files. That said, the profiles from roland are pretty good, and we've had even better luck with the profiles from oracal when using...
  6. Heater setting for vinyl banner material

If you have edge holders (can't think of the actual name), use them. It'll help alot with head strikes. You may still have the head run into the banner in the middle somewhere, but that should be less destructive than hitting the side of the banner. Keep in mind, we have a roland, but we...
  7. I know this one!

    Perfect! Thanks Tim!
  8. I know this one!

I swear I do.. I know I've got it, and now that I need it I can't remember the darn name. Anyone? Thanks!

  10. Versacamm problem...

Oh yeah, and I unscrewed & unplugged the cable from the top of the print head/cutter, but not on the other end where it attaches to the boards. That was sufficient to clean it. I'm not sure if it will be much harder to replace the cable.
  11. Versacamm problem...

You know, the tech replaced the pump, so I'm not sure about that. He wasn't there for long though, so I really doubt it. As far as cleaning the cable, I just pulled the top of the machine off (the window cover & the piece right above it). Took probably all of 15 mins.
  12. Versacamm problem...

Might as well do the pump now before you end up with ink all over the floor. We had the exact same problem with our SP300 about a year ago. The techs came out and actually taped the mylar guides together. They shouldn't have done this, and after it kinking and stopping the printer three...
  13. Ink flow problem with my SP-300

I agree.. call roland and get a tech out to do a tune up. You need some new parts--wipers, probably capping stations. I'm not sure if they'll upgrade the pump for free like they did mine, but I think it was only like $85 for the pump itself (we bought an extra). Good luck!
  14. production manager "setup inactive" message?

It's always those stupid little obvious things that are the hardest to figure out! Glad you got it fixed..
  15. Ink flow problem with my SP-300

Sounds like you've got some clogged heads. If power cleanings aren't helping, I've heard of some clamping off the waste tubes and filling the capping station with cleaning solution. Let that soak for awhile (few hours) and then try another power cleaning. You may need new heads, though.
  16. production manager "setup inactive" message?

Doug, Not familiar with mimaki, but with our roland, we have had situations where the original rip data was deleted. We were able to re-rip the file without printing, thus creating new cut data, and use that to cut. Maybe worth a shot?
