  1. Servers for Dummies

Third vote for using a regular pc as a server.. One thing i'd do is to use an external drive to back up your files to. Actually, I'd use two and switch them out each day so you've always got a backup that's no more than one day old. Take one home each night with you just in case. That...
  2. Motor Feed Error

Using the rollers will definintely help, also, make sure the "drag bar" is not engaged. This is a device attached to the support rollers on the back of the printer. Makes a huge difference!
  3. scratch disk?

I would think that an external hard drive as a scratch disk wouldn't be ideal--they're not as quick as internal drives. Having a full scratch disk while you're using the C drive means you're out of space. Windows in general will start running sluggish, and PS will start throwing errors...

  7. No yellow or magenta on test print with SP 300

I totally agree with high impact.. especially since it happened after a week's break. Doubt this would aggravate dampers. High impact--how often do you manually clean your printer? Are you wiping the capping stations when you do so?
  8. No yellow or magenta on test print with SP 300

I wonder why you guys are only getting six months out of your capping stations.. we had our sp300 for just shy of two years and never had any issues. We've had our xc540 for seven months now with no problems.
  9. Moving an SP-540 with bulk ink system

When we sold our sp300, we just locked the head into place and sent it on its way. It wasn't turned on for about 2 weeks, and when they did, I walked them through a head cleaning over the phone and they were on their way. Of course, it didn't have the bulk ink system. Here's what I would do...

  11. How did you come to find Signs-101

I heard about it from my bro.. don't know how he found it. I see S101 all the time when searching for other sign stuff.. Do a search on vehicle wraps, and a thread from here will pop up from time to time. I just hope our customers don't find this place!
  12. Corel X3 Unleashed Bootcamp???

I don't know about the unleashed class, but we took the course at ISA taught by Craig, the owner of Digital Art Solutions. The amount that I didn't know was staggering, and I consider myself pretty versed in Corel.
  13. Howdy from Phoenix

Welcome from.. uhh.. Phoenix! If you wouldnt mind, PM me with a phone number.. I get a request every now and then for paint, and I have nowhere to refer customers to. Again, welcome and enjoy!
  14. Space for printer setup

99.9% of what we print is laminated. The only stuff that goes out the door without lam is VERY short term vinyl, and banners. If it goes on a vehicle, or somewhere where it will be touched, it gets laminated, period. The ecosol max inks we use are pretty durable once they're dried, but they...

  16. I am a dork! ( wrap designing)

Bleed is not overlap, although that's important too. Bleed is the extra material & print that will be cut off of the edges. Don't bother trying to print wheel wells and such, just print a huge panel and trim everything out afterwards. Overlap is the amount of material that will overlap the...
  17. Space for printer setup

Like chopper said, I would strongly recommend getting a take up reel. You can usually roll the vinyl up on itself, as long as it's ink to backing paper and not ink to ink. Without a take up reel, the material will just fall on the floor and will end up ink to ink. 11'x11', while not ideal...
  18. I am a dork! ( wrap designing)

A flag wrap can be kinda tough (read damn near impossible) if you want to line up all the pieces when changing direction ie, from fender to hood. If you can set it up to be solid blue at the seams, you'd be okay tho. Where to start.. I don't have monster wraps, so I'm not sure how large their...
  19. Anybody own a colorspan 5400?

I have no personal experience, but I've heard that the colorspans are very high maintenance.
  20. Oracal 631 problems

Try using some clear tape. Tack on the R tape AT-60 is as low as I've seen.
