Most of the nascar numbers are tweaked a little, but Aachen and Square are a good start for most.
  2. built a computer! Thoughts and changes possible.

Chris--for $500 I think I'd jump on that server. You'll need a couple more drives for storage like pro signs said, but still not a bad deal.
  3. built a computer! Thoughts and changes possible.

As pro signs said, I did go with an independent builder (Terry from http://www.mcgelec.com/) He's local to me, and was introduced to us by one of our good customers who we mentioned some networking problems to. Before Terry came along, we had two different "network specialist" companies out to...
  4. built a computer! Thoughts and changes possible.

I tell you what, I always thought the the processor was the biggest bottleneck in the system.. I have two machines running side by side with the X6800's in each. One has the SAS and the other runs two SATA drives in raid 0. The SAS machine runs circles and circles and circles around the other...
  5. built a computer! Thoughts and changes possible.

SAS is defintely the way to go! I've got six drives in total: three in raid 0 or 5 (can't remember which) for programs and temporary file storage, and two in raid 0 for the swap drive. The sixth drive is setup as a hotspare. When I say I use the first array for temporary storage, I don't mean...
  6. Roland University

I'm jealous.. I'd love to go to this! I attended a local class given by roland on basic versaworks operation and learned a TON in the few hours I was there. Little stupid stuff, like being able to set the queue defaults by double clicking on the queue folders.
  7. Juice Drops

The ones with tech in the name are more techy/straight lines. The holiday stuff is nice, but they are very use specific (obviously). The sign frames or whatever it's called is pretty cool.
  8. Major Flaw In Daige Quickmount 4????

The machine should work no matter what the weight of the roll is. What the hell good is it if you have to struggle to use the last of the roll?!? I really hope that's not their answer tomorrow!
  9. Mikron vs stimpson 405

Never heard of the Mikron, but our stimpson works great. I think it came with the die though. You can buy replacement dies, but it should have one already.
  10. Can't Delete any EPS Files . . . HELP ! ! !

Upon recommendation by my IT guy, I don't keep files on the desktop anymore. He said something about it loading everything on the desktop into memory and the My Documents area being a frequent target for viruses and other weird issues (that's where the desktop stuff is stored). We just...
  11. Can't Delete any EPS Files . . . HELP ! ! !

Out of curiosity, were the files recently used? Is it saying that to all of them, or just a couple?
  12. Major Flaw In Daige Quickmount 4????

Well that's just cheezy.. We had a daige, and that thing never worked right. I believe it was a version 3, and the belt that connected the two rollers would not stay aligned correctly and kept popping off the pulleys.
  13. Whats the difference?

You're doing design on that machine? From my understanding, the dimension line is entry level, and XPS is made mainly for gaming. I don't see why a machine that could handle gaming well wouldn't work well for design, though. We have a dimension 8400, but it's got 4gb. I'd go at...
  14. vector logo sites

Your customer should be able to provide you with the file. Every remax agent I've done work for has supplied me with the logo through their broker. Funny, cause I think every remax job has had a slightly different logo!

  16. Corel to flattened PDF

Photoshop PDF is the same as a regular PDF.. In X3, just go to file/publish to PDF.
  17. Oracal palette files????

Ya know.. I never woulda thought of something so dang simple! Thanks guys!
  18. Juice Drops

I believe so.. we had a couple, and jumped on a deal to buy 24 more packs for $500 I think. We use them all the time for all kinds of different signs/print work. Like Doug posted too, we use elements from them alot also.
  19. Motor Feed Error

I'll have to check out those new rollers. Chris--we had the same issue with banding while not unrolling the banner first, but we were able to dial in the feed motor and get perfect prints everytime. I don't believe you're running versaworks, but in VW you can adjust the feed calibration %...
  20. Servers for Dummies

If your'e worrying about speed, get some fast drives and make sure everything's running the gigabit cards. You can configure the drives in a raid format and run a hot-spare that will automatically fill in if a drive fails. The drive setup alone in my design station ran $2500, but it's quick.
