Just remember OP is running this as a RIP computer only. Having a video card will not improve RIP speeds at all. Having a processor with 1000 cores will not make RIP speeds go faster. The RIP process is not parallelizable meaning it can not be split up into multiple threads and processes. The...
They split because there needs to be two layers. You are either printing white first and then color or vice versa. You can't print both at the same time. The only way to do that with a single or in line head setup is to only print half the nozzles for white and color. So in the case of a white...
I agree with WildWestDesigns One thing to add, an Intel i7 is great if you are going to be multitasking but if it's just going to be a RIP computer, I would find the i5 with the fastest clock speed available instead. It will save you some dough you can spend on an SSD which will help RIP times.
There are two main reasons white slows printers down.
1. It takes usable channels away from the head. Say you have an 8 channel Epson head, although this works on any head it's just easier for me to explain with an Epson. Each channel has 180 nozzles. You could set it up CMYKx2 which prints...
The cap top seals up to the bottom of the head and a pump pulls a vacuum so that ink flows through the head and into your waste tank. This is what pulls clogs out. If the cap top can't create a seal with the head, the vacuum the pump pulls is either too weak or non-existent so it just pulls air...
Soft uses the least amount of ink and is pretty much useless for getting rid of clogged nozzles. It is what I would set it to for the auto cleanings though so you don't waste a lot of ink but still keep the nozzles fresh.
Normal uses about double that of soft. Not a ton but enough that it is...
It sounds like it's the maintenance station for sure. I'm willing to bet the original head was fine too and the station has been the problem the whole time. The cap top should be changed at least once per year and the manufacturer even recommend changing the whole station once per year but most...
If the machine was properly uninstalled there is no reason to think it's bad idea. I had a JFX that started out as a trade show machine, was decommissioned, shipped across the country to us where we demoed it for a while, then decommissioned it ourselves and shipped it across the country, then...
I would have them plug it in and run a nozzle check for you. In my experience UV does much better than solvent when sitting around but it can still cause issues.
That error just means you can't print from a program like Illustrator using a windows driver. It shows that message to everyone using Rasterlink. You should be able to print from the RIP. Have you tried printing yet?
I agree with unclebun on the offset. With the jagged edges I would check to make sure the blade is spinning freely in the holder. There might be some vinyl stuck in there keeping it from moving smoothly.
I'm not an expert but in my experience it has always been under $600 but some people ask for it just to be sure in case it gets over $600 throughout the year. Also, as far as I know it's only for contract work. Did they hire you as a contractor or did your business provide a service? Those are...
Check your offset setting and make sure it matches the blade. If you changed blade angles recently but didn't change the offset, it give you issues like this. If the tip of the blade is broken or rounded it will also mess with the offset.
Only do the 500mm test. Changing to 250 overwrites the setting. You always want to use the 500mm adjustment if you can.
I can't remember if Flexi 8 has this feature, it's in the newer ones for sure, but look around for a function called, "Print Size Compensation" It will print a line that you...
