I know several running this machine and all are pretty happy. Fairly simple to work on too. Not sure what ink they have in it, but PM me if you would like some info on options.

Update: I spoke with another UJF user that has seen this same thing, and it was sporadic with their printer too. They think there is some pressure inconsistency where black ink is being pulled up into the black head from the capping station. The pump and cap appear to be pulling ink just fine...

I've seen this for a while now, but intermittently. It's not super visible in the image, but you can see black streaks at the bottom of the yellow. It doesn't always do it. I've cleaned the caps, heads, wiper. I'm getting a good nozzle pattern. It is only doing it where yellow is printing...

OK, interesting. Thanks. Could you create an Image Configuration in Wasatch and import it into RasterLink? I have located a version of the profiling SW, so that's a good start. Do you know if the process is the same as Wasatch? Creating the image configs in Wasatch is pretty simple.

Does anyone have instructions on how to create ink limit/linearization/profile for Rasterlink 6? I have the hardware and SW to profile (I1/Profile Maker 5). I've done it for Wasatch, Onyx, Caldera, etc, just never created a set up in RasterLink before. Thanks in advance

Change your damper on that channel and see if that fixes it. Sounds like the culprit to me.

Dang, I was certainly hoping it was one of those. What if you create a file with CMYK vertical bars and print? Do all colors drop out at the same time or independently of each other at significantly different passes?

It does still look like an alignment issue, even though you've run the patterns via the service menu. What does it look like if you print unidirectionally? In my experience, the adjustment patterns the printer runs aren't reliable 100% of the time. You may need to manually adjust the numbers...

I have a 3042 here and a couple other brands of smaller flatbeds. Happy to give info via PM.

Is it on all colors or particular one(s)? Have you adjusted your meniscus vacuum? It may be too high to where you do a purge and test print/prime it prints, but then is too high and sucks the ink back into the lines. You may need to change the filters as well.

Digiprint Supplies is out of stock of the OEM, but has the 2 component pieces. Has anyone had reliable success with any other vendors (other than OEM)?

All replies sound valid to me. You maybe could slow the head speed down to reduce that overspray if you need to get the job out in a pinch. Go uni and slower head speed. Might give a cleaner print.

I've had several bad heads from Epson/Mimaki/Roland out of the box, brand new. It happens. The guy should at least replace it if not offer a full refund.

I'd just check the in and out of each board. I don't have the diagrams of that model.

You saw it working before you bought it? And it now doesn't work since it being installed at your shop?

Do a nozzle check, do a normal cleaning, do another nozzle check, take a pic and upload the 2 patterns. Are you ever able to get a good test print or are the dropped nozzles, are the dropped nozzles moving all over the place or are they consistently the same ones? Where'd you buy the head from?

That's pretty typical of clogged dampers. A cleaning, especially a strong, will pull enough ink through the damper into the head to get a good nozzlecheck, but normal printing doesn't pull ink nearly as hard and it drops back out. Like artbot said, you can swap the lines on the head, but I'd...
