  1. Tipping Question

A handsome four course meal with several fine wines, which explains why I can not remember the details of what I ate. But it was probably the most expensive meal I've ever had the pleasure eat.
  2. Tipping Question

Strangely, I'm seldom short of Glenmorangie, even though I'd never bought a bottle. Best tip on an exhibition production job was a couple of half cases of veuve cliquot. One client would always ask me if I could join her for lunch, when she'd come in to sign prints for a show, or a customer...
  3. Rant Customer Rant

Lovely to meet you today, and no problem with deadline. Send the files over via wetransfer by midnight, and we can run your prints, and meet deadline. I'll be in early so I'll drop you in before the normal print queue. 300dpi, Adobe RGB, 300ppi max quality jpeg. Turn up at 06:30, link to google...
  4. Levelling up

Just been on a site visit for the production area in our new facility, and have met a subtle curve ball. Turns out I'm not looking at sealed polished concrete, but rather concrete with undulations up to 15mm, though this potentially isn't the worst issue. The floor drops 150mm over 6metres...
  5. Rant Customer Rant

Just like the picture of the "food" on the burger van
  6. White vinyl with air channels and clear adhesive

And if it will cut 2pt lettering, sharks will use it for all contacts (when applied to a suitable white, legal sized piece of paper.
  7. Epson 9900 aftermarket inks?

Can't tell you anything about 123ink, but inkjetmall do some very good third party inks. I've only used their piezography dedicated sets of black inks in a 7880.
  8. Pricing 420sq/ft of Vinyl Lettering

You read that far down! All I can see is yellow letters against a black background
  9. I just saw this in an ad

Worked checkout in a supermarket as a kid. Orange Juice Apple Juice Baby Juice Unsmoked Joint In one transaction.
  10. Easymount hot and cold laminator

The grease spots I thought I was referring to, come from paw prints on the laminate, from down pushing flat bubbles
  11. What computer for RIP?

So, fast furious and volatile. Couple of mid range ssd's, and chronosync (or whatever the PC equivalent) to an F450 (Ironwolf pack).
  12. Colour profiling and calibration

I'd be looking at someone who can tell you what kit to buy, integrate it to your rip software, and can train you/team to use it. Getting three machines in line is a few days work/training, if you want top notch results (Impala4). Not local, but same continent - Scott Martin
  13. Easymount hot and cold laminator

Warm fingers for the touch down. Nitrile gloves helf prevent grease spots.
  14. Overcoming hurdles

I'm over in the Adobe camp - it'll handle pretty much any file format except.canva. For those, see Stacey's advice.
  15. How To Cut Aluminum Composite Material

Gotta say Steeltrak. Many years ago had a client wanted just under 8x3' on DiBond, bigger than our steeltrak. Clamped down the big purple ruler, made the cuts on front face with a stanley knife, and then, how to bend and snap the off cut...? Ended up "clamping" the 12' off cut by sandwiching...
  16. Problem cutting 3mm ACM with Keencut SteelTrak

Mine brings the ACM forward by less than 1mm - the C2 cutter actually rotates very slightly clockwise (viewed from left) when starting to cut, and I think it always has done. Have you checked the bump stop at the bottom of the carriage is all the way down - I could see how it being slightly...
  17. Backlit film - outsource or print aqueous?

I print transparent on a canon aqueous, to back up display light boxes. Not super dense on my machine. Oce do a very expensive option, that they say takes a very high ink load (I've not tried it at 3x the price of regular options that work for my needs).
  18. Problem cutting 3mm ACM with Keencut SteelTrak

I've not seen this in over a decade of using a SteelTrak, and yes, something looks out of alignment. How is the depth on the regular cutting head looking? If this is also standing too far forward, then ISTR there are bolts top and bottom of the main body that may not be snug. Might be worth...
