  1. Why JV150 So Cheap?

I use a JV 150-160 every day, and it works 100% perfectly. Not much to keep up, no big repairs (so far), machine was purchased almost 3 years ago. Very reliable and easy to clean. Have used Epson, Mutoh, and HP roll-to-roll printers, and they all stink in comparison.
  2. JV150- Prints coming out too reddish/pink

Results? All fixed? I'm interested to hear what the problem is/was. - Doug
  3. Need Help Mimaki CJV30-130 missing nozzles

Hi There, That is BY FAR the filthiest printer I have ever seen in 12 years in the business. ALL that ink should be cleaned away, from every surface and corner, etc. That gummy ink will attract and drop dust and junk onto your prints. No wonder you are getting bummer prints and tests. Once ALL...
  4. What caused this failure?

How long was material left to off gas before laminating? Also, could be just the way they park it, with one side to the sun.
  5. Window Perf Cracking?

Funny. I operated the big brother, the 28500, for approx 2.5 years, and we had many issues with lamming too fast. We went through many different profiles, both with the sales person, and then for real, in actual usage. Wasn't confined to one material or one maker. Room was temperate and fully...
  6. Window Perf Cracking?

Wow. Please do enlighten me as to what is false. Facts work wonders. BS fall flat. I have operated such HP printers, and have had this exact problem, ie: material being laminated too soon after printing. Would very much enjoy reading your long-term expertise and experience, with the notes on...
  7. Window Perf Cracking?

How long was this print left to dry before it was laminated? Even with HP latex printers, it should be at least 24 hours.
  8. New Printer

Pauly is absolutely right on wood not being flat. Ever. I have done many wood fiberboard sheets on the OCE flatbed, and had to TAPE DOWN THE ENTIRE EDGE to get a seal which will not cause a head strike. Wood sheets so warped they look like a potato chip on the table. Maybe your wood supplier...
  9. Is clear ink and primer worth it?

Gloss laminate, on roll, might ultimately be a better option. Have yet to see a company have enough primer/clear work to make the maintenance worth while. Stuff gets gunky and must be kept very clean, both machine and environment.
  10. scaling in onyx 12 rip-queue

ONYX sizing and tiling On the second tab of the ONYX Job Editor, "Preview and Sizing", you can set the file size, either by entering the dimensions, or entering a percentage. Be sure the H & W are linked, to maintain proportion. On the third tab in Job Editor, "Tiling" you can crop out a...
  11. Question How do you prepare your print files

Just a note on color: JPGs and PNGs do not match colors with PDFs. They are not the same. If you haven't had a client question the color over this difference, you are lucky. PDFs are most faithful in color matching/maintaining.
  12. Disappearing Dongle

Have you had that USB key for a long time? Many USB key drives have a watch-sized battery inside. See if you can replace it.
  13. Question How do you prepare your print files

PDF all the way. JPEGs and PNGs are web image files, pretty grainy. EPS and TIFF are good, but can be huge files, and take a lot of time and space. We always try to use PDFs going to our 10-ft printer. Good Luck! - Doug Vancouver
  14. HEALTH INSURANCE!........How I loathe you!

    Good luck with that.
  15. Creating or canned ICC profiles? (poll)

I have had good luck DL'ing a pre-made profile, and tweaking it from there.
  16. Océ 1200 vs hp fb550

Hi Pauly, Thanks for the more current information, but I am certain that many of these 200/300 series tables are still running the previous inks, heads and software. Maybe you have the cash to spend 6 figures every two years. Most shops do not. I'm sure this info is valuable to most OCE users...
  17. Océ 1200 vs hp fb550

Hi All, Having run several OCE Arizona 250s, and their sister machine the FUJI Acuity flatbeds, I can say that the printheads are the biggest problem. At $5,000 each, they should be iron-clad tanks which last forever. They are not. I have seen several heads clog up with ink that has turned...
  18. Is there a no overlaminate option to help protect digital prints from flatbed?

??? It means spray lamination is a problem. It rarely works well. Sorry the previous post was so cryptic to you. How long have you been in this business?
  19. How to get rid of media buckling when printing 98" or wider?

Mesh laying flat on Vutek - try your vacuum settings Hello All, We have had the same Mesh/head streak problems. We addressed it by LOWERING the Vutek vacuum setting to 35/100. Also, we turn on the rear take-up reel in the opposite direction, which helps increase tension. Yeah, I know...
