When you say face-mounted, do you mean the opposite? Reverse mounted? If its face-mounted it will be the plexi itself that is bonded to the wall.

Looking at the spec sheet for 5100, it says to use 680 for inkjet printing, so that is probably the main difference? For cut lettering this won't matter though.
