  1. Brushed Aluminum

I picked up some 15" brushed aluminum vinyl this last week. I was going to use this, with a printed black border on a logo to put on a work truck. The problem is that it is a lot more brittle than vinyl, and my thermal printing seems to rub off fairly easily! We are considering die cutting...
  2. Static Cling

I'm doing my first signs with static cling vinyl. It appears that it's clingy on both sides, is that right? Or is it just the underside? It seems to work equally on both sides, but I wanted to make sure that was true :)
  3. Calibration

I'll give that a shot. Thanks!
  4. Calibration

Hmmmm....brilliant. That makes sense. Wow, it's WAY off then.
  5. Calibration

Thanks Fred, though I think you are referring to the printer? I'm referring to the plotter in that it cuts inaccurately if you line it up in the cross hairs. This is very consistent, no matter how much foil is in a cartridge. I'm glad you don't prune! More threads = more content = more Google...
  6. Calibration

Hello! I tried calibrating my Envision cutter, but it seems like it only takes care of left and right calibration, not forward and back. At this time I have to line up considerably under the crosshairs to get an accurate cut. How do I fix that? PS: Is it just me, or did all the threads in...
  7. Looking at new equipment...

So... I'm kinda looking into getting into a larger, ink based setup. I'm a poor man, I don't have much monies, and we just had a baby... so I'm not in high-risk mode. However, I run across jobs that I'm limited on with my small thermal equipment as far as detailed graphics, and at the moment I...
  8. Print to banner material

    Outsource it is :)
  9. Print to banner material

Are there rolls of banner material that you can print directly to with the Edge? I've looked a little online but haven't found anything. I tried doing a full color banner, 72" x 24", but I found it impossible and extremely time consuming to do a good job putting the banner together in 2 pieces...
  10. Weather/Temperature outdoor installation

Thanks guys! I was freezing my butt off since I totally dressed for the nice weather we had this last weekend, but it worked out! I've attached the finished product.
  11. Weather/Temperature outdoor installation

I need to do an outdoor window vinyl sign install today if I can. It started getting colder again today, and it's 34 degrees this morning. It's pretty damp, but the work space is covered by an overhang and stays pretty dry. Am I safe to do a vinyl install in this type of cold weather? Or do I...
  12. Summa DC4 Question

I was looking at this machine here: http://www.summastore.com/cutter_detail.php?product_id=26&sess_id=f3747f62cd97df1bf1f965b63f561734 It's a thermal printer. I currently have a Gerber Edge 2 which is also a thermal printer. Does the Summa thermal printer provide a more detailed, non-sawtooth...
  13. Copam 2500 jagged/rough cutting

Ah, thanks! Ya, maybe that protection strip now that you mention it.
  14. Copam 2500 jagged/rough cutting

I have a Copam 2500, and for the last while I've had a hard time with it cutting just horribly! I've attached an image of what it's doing. As you can see it's a really rough/jagged cut and it even causes the edge to come up a little bit. I've replaced blades and I've even replaced the blade...
  15. Ran out of foil in a big print job

I do big runs like that quite often and don't seem to have much of an issue. When dealing with colors butting up to each other I've had issues, but it doesn't seem to matter how big the run is.
  16. Ran out of foil in a big print job

I ended up throwing white in to finish since I hardly ever use white. On that 17 foot run, it only had 2 inches left ;)
  17. Ran out of foil in a big print job

Perfect, thanks Fred! It will definitely be worth it :)
  18. Ran out of foil in a big print job

I'm printing hundreds of individual stickers, not just one big sign.
  19. Ran out of foil in a big print job

I just ran out of my first color foil in the middle of a 3 color foil job. Is there a way that I can go ahead and reset it and add my 2nd and 3rd colors without losing what I've done? Otherwise I'll waste several yards of vinyl... my bad.
  20. Transfer tape with Edge 2 printing

    Thanks Matt!
