  4. Idea about making this sign

If your CNC guy has enough clearance to get past his CNC bed to reach the width of your text this should be pretty easy. It's a circle so all you have to do is rotate it at the correct intervals which you can easily achieve. Use glue on paper measuring tape from IKEA or w/e. Front of the...

  6. 48" Tall Letter Installation on glass

Use tape to hold it until the clear silicone dries. Put a piece of white vinyl matching the general shape on the inside to hide the tape + silicone. Don't make them out of metal. Make sure your inside piece of vinyl is mirrored.
  7. Help! Need to find Avery type label paper!

It's probably a polyethylene container. Low energy surface, apparently if you hit the surface with a blowtorch prior to sticking on the sticker it will have much greater adhesion. Just a very quick pass. Just see if your supplier has any printable paper that will stick to PE.
  8. Stuck window

Hit your windows key and arrow down.
  9. Static cling removal

Is it in the glass itself or just ghosted onto the window tint film? Unlikely that it's imprinted onto the glass, probably just the sun bleaching it at a different rate. Sorta like a stencil but I'm sure you already figured that out.
  10. Recommended Router Bits

I've failed engraving with one but onsrud makes v-mills that work pretty decent for side cutting. Given you hog away most of the material first with a straight flute and don't use the v-mill to plunge. It's really bad for the spindle if you take too hard of a pass but I'm sure you already know...
  11. Custom Statue

There's also 3Dcustomfoam https://www.3dcustomfoam.com/wp/?page_id=8 . They do similar stuff to Dan, most scene shops in lower mainland BC can do similar type of work. It's your budget that dictates the quality.
  12. Paper Or Plastic?

I tried clear a few times and it just sucked. Probably my own failure to use it correctly but my god did it suck major balls for glass installations. I usually soaked my paper mask with soapy water and the thing let go pretty easy. Used to use paper mask for lots of office vinyl frosting on...
  13. Odd Surface..............................................................

We used 100% silicone for brass letters on bumpy wallpaper. That looks quite raised though. Maybe our methods were a bit crazy but silicone sure seemed to work for a lot of materials on all types of surfaces. It's cheap too. Few small strips of ds tape to hold it until the silicone sets and it...
  14. Aluminum sheet import

Economy of scale is against you in this niche. We couldn't even turn a profit cutting the blanks for regulatory signs. You might be better off ordering a container full of pre-cut blanks instead of raw sheets to save on cost and space in the container itself. Just like here in the West, from...
  15. The things I see

The bigger print that says 'Transboarder' was sent to us by the customer and approved by them. The smaller print was what the designer gave me to cover it up with. Something got lost in between them and the foreman. Of course the guy installing the signs gets blamed for it cause I print these...
  16. Production file release for "mock-ups"

This is why most sign shop designers aren't all that. The mockup drawing in their eyes is the hard part finished. I loved giving my customers my drawings so they could go elsewhere to realize that they already got the best product from me. Seems a bit insecure to worry about useless sign designs...
  17. What do you do when a customer takes a phone call in the middle of placing an order?

I am the other guy calling your guy so I never run into these problems.
  18. Alternative Channel Letter Mounting Solutions

Use automotive adhesive after you grind off the paint to glue them right to the bare metal. Lord Adhesives makes it for the sign industry. https://www.lord.com/industries/building-and-construction/sign-adhesives/large-outdoor-assemblies Reason why I say grind paint off is because this stuff is...
  19. Time to wrap it up and find a new profession around here :(

When the guy next door says he will do it for 1/4 of the price.
  20. Production file release for "mock-ups"

You already charged them the design fee so why does it bother you so much? I understand that a lot of people do basic design and layout for free to entice the customer. If they would then turn around and ask for the artwork in vector format that's when it would be fair to be upset and tell them...
